SIX THOUSAND AKKADIANSOLDIERS march with him•

NINE THOUSAND SUMERIANSOLDIERS are coming at them from across the golden dunes.Behind the Sumerians is the massive walled CITY OF THEBES:palaces, temples, needles, --the works. The Nile runs alongsideit.

A powerful FI.STisthrust into FRAME, clenching a scimitar, a GOLD BRACELET adorns thewarrior's wrist. Muscular, brutal looking and heavilyscarred, this is the SCORPION KING.The spooky thing about him is that througha strange Akkadian tribal ritual, all theskin on his head above his eyebrows has bE!enremoyad.exposing his BLEACHED SKULLCAP.He BELLOWS a command. Heand his soldiers CHARGE FORWARD.

CUT WIDE: as botharmies, fifteen thousand men strong,pour over the golden dunes and CLASH.The Scorpion King fights like aman possessed. Slowly being swallowed up in the dust.

The remains of the Scorpion King'sdecimated army retreats into the desert.

Alone in the middle of avast wasteland, the Scorpion King crawls on his hands and knees, then he looks up into the heavens, raises his fist in anger,and BELLOWS A CURSE.

The Scorpion King sees a live SCORPION crawling towardshim. He looks backup to the heavens and sneers, thengrabs the wriggling thing with his bare hands.His face grimaces as it STINGS HIM.Be shoves the·scorpion into his mouth and chews.

Suddenly, in a circle around him,--LUSH GREEN VEGETATION SPRINGSUP OUT OF THE SAND, then EXPLODES OUTEXPONENTIALLY IN EVERY DIRECTION.SUPERIMPOSED ON THE SCREENARE THE WORDS:

~BB OASIS OF ABM SBBRB

And then aHUGE HOLE opens up in the ground in front of him. STAIRSMADE OF SAND lead down into a NETHERWORLD.Grinning malevolently, the Scorpion King starts down the stairs-

A decapitated HUMAN HEAD rolls throughFRAME, followed by a HEADLESS MAN, still 'l'WI'l'CHING.And then a bigCLAWEDFOOT steps onto the headlessman's chest.TILT UP: to reveal an extremelyevil looking ANUBIS WARRIOR: fromthe waist down he has ahuman exoskeleton covered in striated muscles,from the waist up he's a hairy Anubis-headed creature.He lifts his scimitarand SHRIEKS in triumph._

ARDE'l'HBEY (o.s) Thenext year, the Scorpion King stormednorthward with the Army of Anubis.And like a great flood, washed away all that lay before them.

CUT WIDE: Thousands of hideous Anubis Warriorsswarm through the fantasticand sprawling City of Thebes,now in ruins. BuildingsBURN. Monuments COLLAPSE. PeopleSCREAM. SUPERIMPOSEDON THE SCREEN ARE THE WORDS:

The SCREEN fills with the horrific face of an Anubis Warrior, he SHRIEKSand then DISSOLVES into BLACK SAND,revealing:

ANCIENT RUINS along thebanks of the Nile. Deserted except for THREECAMELS. SUPERIMPOSED ON THE SCREEN are theWORDS:

Inside the temple,dozens of GIANT PILLARS rise up from the rock strewn floor to the cracked ceiling above.Ashaft of dusty sunlight shines in through a doorway.A smallFIGURE in a pith helmet enters, holding aTORCH. The Figure moves through the pillars and enters aFISSURE in a far wall.

We follow the pith helmetedFigure as he slowly creeps through spookycatacombs. The walls are covered indark hieroglyphics. Ascary NOISE is heard. The Figure freezes, then turns aroundand faces us: it's an adorable little eight-year-old boy.This is ALEXANDER O'CONNELL.

Alex looks around,eyes wide. It's dark and quiet.And then a HAND GRABSHIM. Alex SCREAMS. It's O'CONNELL,looking dashing and handsome and wearing a sleevelessshirt.

Alex points toa very cool TATTOO emblazoned across O'Connell's muscular upper rightarm: a mariner's compass

pointing downwith--falcon:s·wings pointing up,forminga pyramid. In the center of thepyramid is the Eye of Isis.

O'Connell spins Alex around and gently sendshim packing.

HOT COALS arebrushed across ancient engravings chiseled into a wall:TWO SEXY EGYPTIAN PRINCESSES IN HAND-TO-HANDCOMBAT. EVY is doing the brushing,looking quite sexyherself, having gone abit "native". Something HISSES. Evy looksdown. Next to her foot is a BIGBLACK SNAKE. She doesn't even flinch.

Her foot hooks thesnake and tosses it across the room. O'Connell comes through thedoor~ Evy gestures.

Not listening,O'Connell SMACKS his head on alow hanging beam.He YELPS, grabs his head and goes to sitdown.

Not listening,O'Connell sits on a rock covered inHOT COALS. HeYELPS and leaps up. Evy just smiles at him.

O'Connell gives hera forlorn look with his puppy dog eyes.

FOUR EVIL LOOKINGCHARACTERS ride up on horses and dismount, The two SRI:TISHMENdraw their guns; the two ARABS whipout. their scimitars. This isRED, SPIVEY, ABDUL, and MUHAMMAD.

Inside the temple,next to a large gathering of ancient artifacts, Alex is buildingsame sort of strange CONTRAPTION out of bamboo shoots,mummy wrappings, and rotted bones.

He's also keepingan eye on some RATS off in the corner. Suddenly,VOICES are heard. Frightened, Alex looks around, he spots a forty foot highWOODEN SCAFFOLDING. He quickly scurries over andstarts to climb up. At the top,Alex bellycrawls across it and looksdown over the other side:

Red, Spivey,Abdul, and Muhammad enter the temple, slow and easy. Gunsand scimitars up. Real professionals. A truly vicious looking crew. Alex's eyes widen infear.Muhammad head& forthe fissurein the wall. Red turns to him.

Muhammadnods and slips into the fissure. Spivey has been staring .atAlex'scontraption. Inside it, a piece of CHEESE sits ona plate. Spivey grabs the cheese. The contraption GOES OFF.A bamboo shoot SLAPS DOWN HARD onto Spivey's hand, --'l'HWACKllIt'sarat trap. We COT AWAY on Spivey's SCREAM.

WHAMlA huge slab hits the ground. Tarantulas and scorpions flee.Poison ups HISS. The room is filled with creepy half- eatenmmnmies. o' Connellholds a pry bar.

Evy gestures at the creepy, infested room, incredulous.

Herhands whip through cocwek>s,which stick to her fingers, she tries to wipe them offas O'Connell enters theroom.

Evy grabs a TORCH HOLDER on the wall and pulls it.A hidden TRAP DOOR suddenly OPENS, revealing a secret passage.

UP ON THE SCAFFOLDING: Alex quietly reachesoack into his rucksack and withdraws a wrist-rocket-style SLING SHOT. DOWN BELOW: Red, Spivey, and Abdulare viciously ransacking the artifacts, clearly looking for something.

A rock THWACKS Spivey in the head. HeSCREAMS. Red and Abdul nearly jump out of their pants.

RED/ABDUL What l?'NHATl?

Muhammed creeps up·to·the,holethat O'Connell just created. He pulls out several tightlywrapped STICKS OF DYNAMITE.

O'Connell steps into a darkchamber.

Evy sticks her torch into theroom and pans it around. As the torch passes in front ofCAMERA the SCREEN FLASHES and we are sudd@nly catapultedbagk in time. four thousand years: The room now looks gloriously newand utterly fantastic. On the far wall, an EGYPTIAN PRINCESS comes out of aDOOR. We don't see her face, butwe catch a glimpse inside the room: TWO HUGE SPOOKY WARRIORSstand on either side of an omate CHEST. The Princess shuts the doorand turns a SUNDIAL on it's face: twice to the right,once to the left, locking it. She starts to leave. O'Connellwalks through her. THE SCREEN FLASHES. The chamber is ancientand dark once again. O'Connell steps up to the door.He didn't see any of it.

He slams theprybar into the door seam and starts prying. Evy waves her torch around,trying to get that flashback thing to happenagain, looking a bit wigged-out. O'Connell sees it in her eyes,he stops prying, concerned.

· Evyquickly covers with asmile.

Evy just nods, a bit concerened herself.

O'Connell starts prying again,grunting and groaning.

Evy gral:>sthesundial~turns it twice to the right,once to the left. The door opens.She gives O'Connella nervous look.

Spivey bends over to look into a sack filled with trinkets. UP ON THE SCAFFOLDING:Alex fires the SLING SHOT andducks. Spivey gral:>shis assandleaps up SCREAMING.

Again, Red andAbdul scan the temple suspiciously.

Muhammad jimmysthe sticks of dynamite into the wall.

Evy and O'Connell slowly creep into the chamber.Evyturns to her left, --a SOLDIERMUMMY IS STANDING RIGHTNEXT TO HER. Evy SCREAMS and jumps back.O'Connell instantly leapsfoJ:Ward and swings his pry bar,decapitating the mummifiedSoldier Mummy. It's head ricochets off the walls.

Evy steps up with her torch to reveal that there are actually TWO SoldierMumlies, the same spooky warriors we saw inher vision, nowmummified, standing guard on either side of the same ornate CHEST,now covered in spiderwebs.The GOLD DISC from the first shot of the movie sits on top of the chest.

Evy kneels down andstarts analyzing the chest.

O'Connell tries to get her pumped up.

Evy gives him a witheringlook. O'Connell just sighs heavily.

He SPITS into both of his palms for leverage andgrabsthe pry bar. Evy grimaces.

O'Connell SLAMSthe pry bar into the seam of the chest.

Alex FIRES the SLING SHOT.Abdul spins around and grabs the rock right out of theair, TBWAPJ Two inches behind Spivey's head. AND he catcheseyes with Alex before Alex can duck. Abdul opens his fist.Spivey and Red see the rock in his palm. Abdul closes his fist andcrushes the roc;k;topowder.

He pulls out his scimitar,--SHINGJ Alex's eyes widen. He starts backing offdown the scaffolding. Red walks fC>l:Ward, --right;in trout·ottbe fissure, ·

Muhammad is holding a lighteras Red's VOICE ECHOES in:

Muhammad LIGHTSthe dynamite fuse and hauls-ass.

Evy steps up to.the.•,.headlessSoldierMummy.AKEY dangles from a gold chain around it's neck.Evy rips it off. O'Connell is still prying awayat the chest when Evy sticks the key into it and unlocks it.O'Connell gives her a look.

Evy opens the chest. Cradled inside it isthe same thick GOLD BRACELET we saw on the Scorpion King's wrist.The bracelet is c;losedtight.

Abdul's sciDdtar is clenched between his teeth ashe climbs up the scaffolding. Alex slowly backs down to the edge of it, he looks around, there's nowhereelse to go. Abdul is almost to the top. And that's whenMuhammad comes running in.

MtJBAMMAD Gol GOJ GO! The dynamite! It's going to blowl

Abdul looks down to see his three buddies sprintingout of the temple, he gives a quick look at the terrified little boy, snarls at him, then slides all the waydawn to the floor. At the bottom, Abdulkicks a balance board out from under the scaffolding. The scaffolding immediately begins to ROCK and SWAY. So does Alex.Abdul runs out of the temple.

IN'l'.CATACOMBS- DAY

The dynamite EXPLODES. Rocks and bouldersFLY. And then RAGING WATER comes BLASTING through the hole.

O'Connell and Evy are almostblown off their feet. They look at each other, panicked.

O'CONNELL/EVY Alex.

O'Connell quickly throws the disc into the chest,slams it shut, shoves it into his rucksack, slings the rucksackar~und his shoulder, grabs Evy's hand and RUNSLIKE HELL.

The scaffolding is SWAYING WILDLY.Alex is still on his feet at the top, desperately trying to maintain his balance.

O'Connell and Evy run out of a tunnel andjag left. A MASSIVE GEYSER OF WATER BLAS'l'SOU'l'behind them.They find themselves trapped at a dead end, overlookinga deep chasm, it's walls filled with thousands of shelvespacked with papyrus scrolls.

O'Connell rips out a grapplinghook from inside his rucksack. Be starts to swing it.Evy is ecstatic over the find.

MASSIVE BLASTS OF WATER suddenlyGUSH out of every door and crevice in the place. Destroying everything.

O'Connell throws the grappling hook over abeam, grabs Evy around the waist and JUMPS.The two of them SWING across the deep chasm, which is beingBLAS'l'EDBY GEYSERSOF WATER. They make it to the other side andrace into an open fissure.

IN'1'.TEMPLE- DAY

'l'hescaffolc:ling.SLAMSintoahuge pillar.The pillar STARTS TO FALL. The scaffolding starts toCOLLAPSE. Alex LEAPS off the collapsing scaffolding and onto the falling pillar•

O'Connell andEvy are swept off their feetby a TORRENT OF RAGINGWATER. They get trapped in a smallchamber which is fillingup quick. O'Connell rips a pick out of his rucksack and startspicking away, trying to smashhis way out.

Alex slides down the falling pillar andOUTOF FRAME. The falling pillarSLAMS into the next pillar,which falls and SLAMS into thenext pillar, and onward it goes.The CAMERA PANS 360 degrees with the falling pillarsasthey all DOMINO. TheCAMERA ends on Alex just as he rises to his feet.He looksaround at the completely destroyed temple,stunned.

Thechamber is almost completely filled.The air is almost gone.O'Connell looks at Evy. Evy looks at O'Connell.Both desperate.HIS EYES. HER EYES. The waterSWALLOWS THEM UP.

Alex hears a NOISE and looks up. The last pillar hasn't completely fallen, it's stuck ona t.eamandslowly slipping. Alex races over to themassive pillar and pushes with all his might, trying to stop itfrom falling.David versus Goliath.

UNDERTHE SWIRLING WATER: O'Connell andEvy wrap their ams aroundeach other and hug tight.

Alex loses the fight.The giant pillarFALLS and CRASHES right through a hieroglyphed wall, --a hugeGUSHOF WATER EXPLODESOUT from the new hole in the wa11·.Evyand O'Connell are poured autthrough the hole and thrownacross the floor. They slide upnext to Alex, gasping for air,exhausted and stunned. Alex looksdown at his parents, then around at the huge mess that was once the beautiful temple, then he looks backdown at his parents, terrified.

FLOODLIGHTS sweep across a largeDESERT DIG SITE, picking up glimpses of-.ancient- ruins,a fleet of1930'strucks and bulldozers, and over a HUNDRED NATIVEDIGGERS. FIFTY HEAVILY ARMED ARAB MEN in BLACK TURBANSand long robes are spread out and keeping an eye on the Diggersand the dark desert beyond. SUPERIMPOSED ON THE SCREEN ARETHE WORDS:

The black BOOK OF THE DEAD slamsdown onto a dusty table.

The gold BOOK OF AMON RA is slammeddown next to it.

A gorgeous, sultry, youngWOMAN with long black hair and tight fitted khakis blows dust off thel:>ooks.This isMEELA. She looks up at a tall, spookylooking MAN wearing a RED TURBAN. This is LOCK-NAB.Meela gives him an evil smile.

Down inside a nearby sand pit,a group of Diggers work away. Staring down fram above is a very pious appearing fellow with an evil edge. This is the HIGHPRIEST. He turns as a LAND ROVER pulls up out of the darkness.Red and Spivey jump out. The High Priest is too excited to notice their nervous looks.

Before they can even answer theground suddenly SHAKES. Red, Spivey and the High Priest stop in theirtracks. The ground SHAKES AGAIN. More violent now.Closer.

The Diggers in the pit l.ookaround,wide-eyed. 'Thensomething familiar happens: A MOUND OF SANDBEGINS TO RISE UP out of the bottam of the pit. The Diggers stare at it, transfixed. And then the mound BURSTS OPEN AND ATHOUSAND SCARABS EXPLODE UP OUT OF I'l'.

The Diggers SCREAM in terror and frantically try to scramble up out of the sandy pit,grasping for purchase, legs and hands churning away in the sand,their progress nightmarishly slow. The SWEEPING FLOODLIGHTSmake it all the more kinetic and creepy. And then the hideousbugs overtake the SCREAMING Diggers and start eating them alive.

Red and Spivey freak out andscramble back up into their jeep. The High Priest just grins.

Hearing the horrible SCREAMS,Meela calmly looks at Lock-Nah.

A Digger stumbles up out of the pit,MULTIPLE SCARABS are CRAWLING mmER HIS SKIN.Rad and Spivey SCREAM. The Digger opens his mcuth, -SCARABS POUR OUT OF IT. Red and Spivey SCREAM LOUDER.

Men in BLACK TURBANSrace forward, using FLAME-THROWERSto chase the CHIT'l'ERINGscarabsbackinto the pit. Behind them, men in RED 'l'URBANSbegin toSHOUTwith excitement and point to a LARGE CRANE swiveling oversome ruins; a bigROCK hanging from its claw.

The High Priest sees thisand is completely elated and distracted, he quickly scurries off for the crane.

Meela and Lock-Nah stride out of the tent,followed bytwo red turbaned men, eachcarrying one of the books.A Servant bows for Maela and opens the back door to acreme colored Rolls Royce convertible.Meala dismisses him offhand,then stops near the pit andgrabs the gold book.

Yes.

Meela flings the gold book-into the pit.We hear scarabs CHITTER from below as they scurryout of it's way. Meela and Lock-Nah continue on. Red andSpivey slide out of the jeep.

Red is still shaken, he wipesthe sweat off his brow and sarcastically gestures into the pit.

Spivey stares at the pit,greedily licking his lips. A bulldozer shoves amound of aand into it. Scarabs CRITTER wildly as they are buried.Spivey and Red shiver in disgust.

The High Priest,Meela-and Lock-Nah stride up to the crane just as the claw sets the bigrock down. Molded inside the rock is a horribly deformedPETRIFIED CORPSE. A nightmarein stone. The HighPriest grins.

With a devious smile,Meela caresses the corpse's cheek. Lock-Nah lifts upa large BLACK ORN covered in hieratic.

The High Priest nods,then turns as Red and Spiveywalk up.

Meela and Lock-Nah arestunned. The High Priest is furious.

Meela gently touches his shoulder.

Spivey tries to be reassuring.

Meela scowls at Red and Spivey..

Red and Spivey stare at the corpse,a bit creeped out. Lock-Nab whispers to the High Priest.

The High Priest gives Lock-Nahand Meela a·very ominous look.

HIGB ANGLE of 1933 LONDON:Big Ben, the House of Commons, and the river Thames twinkling underTower Bridge. Thick dark 'rHUNDERHEADSare rolling.in,torn by FLASHES OF LIGHTNING.

WE PAN DOWN the gorgeous whitetownhomes of Belgravia until we see O'Connell through some hugebay windows, carrying suitcases and heading into theirlibrary.

Evy passes in front of thelibrary windows.

The O'Connell library isan eccentric, disheveled, private museum, two stories high,filled with tons of books and lots ancient artifacts. O'Connelldrops the suitcases.

O'CONNELL

Alex staggers under theweight of the Scorpion King chest.

Evy hustles around the library,gathering books and papers.

O'Connell is right behind her.

A LIMOUSINE pulls up andstops. The TWO SINISTER MEN up front wear RED TURBANS. Theylook up at Evy in the library windows.

In the back of the limoare FOUR MOU MEN. Lock-Nab rolls down the window and sticksa pair of BINOCULARS to his eyes. BINOCULAR POV: Alex crosses the bay window lugging theCHEST.

O'CONNELL/EVY ALEXI

IN'l'.O'CONNELLLIBRARY - DAY

Alex sets the chest down and looks at his dad,confused.

Evy shakes her head and continues on.

O'Connell heads after her, pointinga finger at Alex.

Evy climbs up the spiral stairs to thebook-filled balcony.

O'Connell is hot on her heels.

Startled, Evy looks at him,her next sentence petering off_

Alex hearsa loud CLICK coming from INSIDETHE CHEST. Surprised,he looks at it, then pulls the key out of his pocket andstarts to open the chest.

UP IN THEBALCONY: O'Connell steps up close to Evy.

Alex opens the chest, inside it thebrageletis now OPEN. Alex stares at it, thensneaks a look up at his parents.

Alex rolls up his jacket sleeve and sets his wrist into the open bracelet. It suddenlySNAPS SHUT.Alex's eyes fly open in surprise.He leaps back, staring at the bracelet.

OPABOVE:·O'Connell takes Evy in his arms.

And then something mysticalhappens around Alex: the area around him fills with astrange, three dimensional VISION of the GIZA PLATEAU: threepyramids, one Sphinx. All brand new. UP ON THE BALCONY: O'Connell andEvy are oblivious to it.

Evy stares up into O'Connell's eyes.He looks tired and beat. And then Alex's vision racesdown the Nile and across the desert. Stopping at theTEMPLE OF KARNAC, circa 2000 B.C., then it dissipates andvanishes. Alex just stares at the bracelet on his wrist, wide-eyed.Evy hugs O'Connell tight.

She smiles. O'Connell grins.They start to kiss, gently. Alex rattles his head,then frantically starts fumbling with the bracelet, tryingto get it off; there's no clasp or hasp, it almost looks fused shut.O'Connell starts down the stail:s.

Alex quickly rolls his sleevedown over the bracelet and SLAMS the chest shut.

Evy starts down the stairs.Alex picks up the chest, it's light, he quickly sets it down,keys it open, grabs a heavy VASE off a table, shoves it into the chest andslams it shut again. Evy rounds the bookcase and ruffles Alex's hair.

He gives her abig innocent·.smile.

The limousine isnow empty except for thetwo men up front, watching O'Connell walking east down Belgravia road.The Driver STARTSTHE ENGINE. And that's when aTAXI pulls up from the westand stops. '7.'herear door opens.A greatpairof camel skin BOOTS ~tep out. ~t'sABDE~ BEY, still dark and handsome. He's holding a BOUQUE~ OFFLOWERS. His gorgeous eyes scan the street.

The two Red Turbans in the limousinesee him and duck down, looking shocked. One of them whispers to the other:

EX'r.PEMBRIDGE STREET - DUSX

O'Connell rounds a corner and comesto a deacl stop.He rolls his eyes and shakes his head.

He stares up at an incrediblyGAtJI>YBUILDING;the garish FLASHING NEON LIGHTS say it all:

A skinny white guy, wearing onlyboxer shorts and knee-high black socks, leaps out of a bathroom, pirouettesin mid-air, slides across the wooden f1oor andskids to a atop with his arms raised high. J:t'&JONATHAN.

The High Priest andfour v~cious Men in red turbans stand inside theroom staring at him. Jonathan turnsa shade redder than their turbans,then looks at the High Priest..

JONA'rHAN Well uh,thank goodness for thatJ

The Men start moving in onhim.

The men grab him and pull him down intoan overstuffed chair.

One of the men sticks a knife under Jonathan's throat.

The knife digs into Jonathan's throat.

Meela steps out of theshadows, dressed to the nines,gold and diamonds glitter across her silky skin.She holds a WOODEN BOX in onehand and seductively caresses Jonathan's cheek with the other.

Jonathan gets a little excited.

JONATHAN

Well hello there.

Meela sets thebox on a nightstand, then opens it and stares inside.Her hand suddenly blurs into the boxand pulls out a poisonousASP by the neck. Jonathan withers.Meela smiles.

Meela and herasp head for Jonathan, the asp HISSES and struggles, really pissed-off.

Meela starts to stick the asp up to Jonathan's neck,his eyes bulge out of his head.

She squeezes the asp's neck. It's jaws open,revealing sharp fangs. Jonathan starts to SCREAM.And that's when the door is KICKED OPEN and O'Connell stepsin. Meela, the High Priest and all the Turbans spin around.O'Connell just nods.

There's a tense moment as the badguys try and decide what to do. O'Connell sighs heavily,not really up for a fight.

Meela suddenly throws the asp atO'Connell. O'Connell snatches it right out of theair, holding it l:tyit's neck. O'Connell looks into Meela's gorgeous eyes.

EVERYTHING HAPPENS AT ONCE: Turban#1 lets go of Jonathan and draws a pistol. O'Connell throwsthe Asp at him, which tangles aroundhis·hand. Theman SCREAMSand flails with the snake. The snake BITES HIS FACE. Theman SCREAMS LOUDER.

Turban #2 pulls theknife away from Jonathan's neck. Jonathan immediately throws himselfbackwards, the chair topples over and spills Jonathanonto'the floor. Turban #2 FLINGS the knife at O'Connell. O'Connell snatches it out of the air. FLINGS it right back athim, impaling him in the chest.He falls to the floor in front of Jonathan,who doesn't even slow down, just crawls right up and over the dead guy.

Meela and the High Priest backaway as O'Connell heads for Jonathan, who is quickly crawling for the bathroom.

Jonathan scrambles into thebathroom. O'Connell can't believe this, he forces a smileat Meela and the High Priest. Meela's EYES swivel, looking behind O'Connell.O'Connell sees it and immediately DIVES out of theway just as Turban #4strides through the bedroom doorand OPENS UP with a machine-gun. The radiator is HIT, STEAMSHOOTS OU'!',CLOUDINGTHE ROOM. O'Connell hits the floor, rolls into thebathrooom, pops up onto his feet and SI.AMSthe door shut.

Jonathan scoops up his clothes and the SCEPTEROF OSIRIS;a thick, short, rather innocuous looking gold scepter.

The bathroom door is suddenly RIPPED APART by machine-gun fire. O'Connell and JonathanDUCK.

The bullets RIP through-the door andTEAR the far wall APART.

O'Connell runs full bore at the far wall andCRASHES through it. Jonathan tight on his tail.

Evy is frisking Alex, looking for something as theDOORBELL CHIMES in the background.

The DOORBELL CHIMES again.

Evy gives up on Alex and starts tohead across the room. Alex quickly grabs the chest and starts tosneak off behind her. Lock-Nab suddenly steps into the room right in front ofAlex.

Alex skids to a stop, shocked.Evy spins around.

Evy quickly grabs a big Roman SWORDoff the wall.

Alex can't believe what he's seeing.

And then three moreRED TURBANS step out behind Lock-Nah, carrying scimitars. Alex swallows hard.

All eyes go to ArdethBey, who glides up next to Evy.

ARDE'l'HBEY I hope you don't mind,I let myself in.

It's obvious Evyhasn't seen him in a long time.

Lock-Nab gives hima hard stare.

Ardeth Bey looks at Lock-Nah,then pulls a sword out of the bouquet and lets the flowers drop to the floor.

Lock-Nah and hiamen CHARGE FORWARD. Ardeth Bey and EvyPARRY their blows. Ardeth Bey takes on Lock-Nah and another guy. Amazingly, Evy goessword-to-sword with the other two, LUNGING, THRUSTING,FEINTING and PARRYING like a pro.Alex dodges out of the way with the chest,he can't believe it.

Evy can't believe it either.

One of theTurbans slams Evy up against a wall.He leans forward and laughs with rotted yellow teeth.Evycringes, then KNEES him·inr•the·,t>alls,heSCREAMSand bends over,she KNEES him in the face,he YELPS and pops back up,she decks him with aRIGHT HOOK. He goes down and out.

Another Turban GuyCHARGES forward. Evy parriesand feints.

O'Connell and JonathanEXPLODE through a plate glass window up on the casino'ssecond floor balcony. Theyhit the floor running andCRASH right through the wooden railing.

O'Connell dropsdown onto a stage filled with gorgeous BELLYDANCERS.The Dancers all SCREAM and run. O'Connell leaps off thestage and finds himself under abig central STAIRCASE facing a huge Guyin a red turban. TheGuy rips a FIREAXE off the wall and SWINGS I'l'atO'Connell. O'Connell leaps out of theway. The axe SMASHES througha support beam, tearing itclean off. O'Connell looks up. There's only one more beamholding the staircase up.

Jonathan danglesfrom a huge CHANDELIER ringed with dozens of tiny KEROSENELAMPS. Turban #4 with the machine-gun steps out and aimsit at Jonathan. And that's when several of the chains holding the chandelier tothe ceilingBREAK LOOSE. TheMachine-gunner OPENS FIRE as Jonathan and the chandelier SWINGdown and across the casino and CRASH into the LIQUOR SHELVES abovethe bar. '?heliquor CATCHES FIRE.WHOOSHl The entire side of the casino goes up.Whiskey bottlesEXPLODE like .Molotov cocktails.Everyoneis RUNNING and SCREAMING.

O'Connell shucks and jives away from the Guy swinging the axe, and at thesame time he'a PILEDRIVING his fists into the bigGuy's face and stomach.

Jonathancrouch-runs behind the bar, still holding the Scepter of Osiris.The Machine-gunner starts downthe staircase,spraying the bar with MACHINE-GUN FIRE. Jonathan issuddenly trapped in a corner.

O'Connellbacks into the last support beam, it looks like he's trappedas well. The big Guy smiles and SWINGS theaxe. O'Connellducks. The axe cuts the beam in two. O'Connell dives out of theway. The big Guy looks up as the entire staircase CRASHESDOWN ON HIM, taking the Machine-gunner along with it.O'Connell dashes for Jonathan.

The libraryis getting trashed as the battle rages. Still holding the chest,Alex slams his body against a bookshelf. ItTOPPLES over and CRUSHES one of theTurban Guys. Another Guy runs up and grabs a handle on the chest.He and Alex st.arthaving a tug-of-war.The Guy finally ripsthe chest away.Ardeth Bey leaps over and skewers him.The Guy drops the chest. Ardath Bey YELLS atEvy as Lock-Nab attacks him.

Evy knocks another Turban Guy into a big glass case which TOPPLES over and SMASHES to smithereens.

Ardeth Bey is shocked.

Evy drops her sword and picks up the chest.And that's when a huge MOUNTAIN OF FLESH wearing a red turban roars out of the shadows, scoops Evy up and tears through a side curtain.

This distracts Ardath Bey. Lock-Nah SLICEShim across the IU:m.Ardath Bey tumbles back overa display case. Then Lock- Nah sees Alex sitting up againsta far wall. He THROWS his scinlitar.It whips end-over-endacross the room. Alex dodges left just as the scimitar SLAMSinto the wall, two inches from his head.·Lock-Nah races out throughthe curtains.

It's POURING RAIN as O'Connell and Jonathan sprint down the street, accompanied by the SOUND of onrushing FIRE ENGINES. Behind them, the casino is ENGULFED INFLAMES.

They came racing around a corner,heading for the O'Connell townhome. The limousine almost runs themdowns O'Connell TACKLES Jonathan out cf the way justin time. They beth hit the pavement and roll. --O'Connell seesEvy inside the limousine, surroundedby the guys in red turbans. 'l'he limo CAREENS around the corner and vanishes.Alex runs up.

O'Connell leaps to his feet as Alex runs into hisarms. O'Connell hugs him tight,then he sees Ardeth Bey coming.

Then something dawns onhim and he grits his teeth in anger.

Ardeth Bey strides up.

O'Connell shakes his head.Jonathan is incredulous.

Alex rolls up his sleeve to revealthe bracelet.

Ardeth Bey is shocked,he gently grabs Alex's wrist and checks out the bracelet. Alex is very excited.

Alex rips the photo away and stares at it.

O'Connell and Ardeth Bey both SCREAM,whip their guns around and back up against a glass case. Anothermummy SLAPS it's face up against-the glass behind them.O'Connell and Ardeth Bey quickly back away as all themummies in the room squinn and writhe inside their cases, tryingin vain to break out.

The CHANTING and READING of the Book reaches aCRESCENDO. LIGHTNING flashes across Imhotep's petrified corpse,which STARTS TO COME ALIVE. His petrified tissue begins toanimate. His tattered flesh and rotted bonesbegin to move.

The High Priest and Lock-Nab are thrilled.Evy is horrified.

lmhotep's rotted corpse steps free of the rock.The Priests STOP CHANTING and prostrate themselvesbefore him. Illlhotep looks around with hideous empty eye sockets, they suddenly fix onto something. Evy turns to see what itis.

It's Meela, striding down a corridor.'l'HESCREENFLASHES. And Meela is now striding through Pharaoh's palace wearing little but paint from head to toe, --she'sreally ANCK-SJJNAMQN. Anck steps up to IMHOTEP,who looks more muscular and handsome than ever. He looks into her luscious eyes.

THE SCREEN FLASHES. And Meela is standing in front of Imhotep's living corpse. The High Priest looks at her.

Meela stares at Imhotep, a stone cold ice queen.

Imhotep stares back at her.

Imhotep's fetid lips and rotted cheeks almost form asmile.

UP ONA CATWALK: O'Connell and Ardeth Bey stare down on this surreal tableau.O'Connell just shakes his head.

DOWNBELOW: Lock-Nab pours a VIAL OF ACID into the keyhole of the Scorpion King chest.The metal SMOKESas the acid bums through it.The High Priest steps up toLock-Nab and grins.

Lock-Nab pulls open the chest. -But only the VASE is inside. The High Priest'sface goes ashen.

PUSH IN: on Lock-Nah, as his face slowlyhardens.

TIGHT ON: ALEX, standing outside the car.

Jonathan is absolutely mesmerized, practically drooling.

She gestures. Imhotep looks.His face flashes hatred.

LIGHTNING FLASHES acrossEvy, struggling on the sarcophagus lid, she sees them lookingat her. Meela grins, cat-like.

Meela snaps her fingers.A group of Priests lift the lid.Evy struggles on top of it, then she notices they're carrying her to an open sarcophagusFILLED WITH WRIGGLING SCARABS.

Imhotep's fetid lips grinat Evy as she's carried pasthim.

Evy is carried up to the sarcophagus.She YELLS at Imhotep.

The High Priest steps up and gives-Evya creepy grin.

Evy looks down·at ·thesquirmingscarabs. Imbotep YELLS:

O'Connell leapsforward and catches her.LIGHTNING FLASHES. And that's whenArdeth Bey OPENS FIRE from up in the catwalk. The High Priest,Lock-Nab and all the Priests dive for cover. The sarcophagus lid CRASHES to the floor.Bullets rip into the pillarabove Meela's head, she SCREAMSand hits the deck.

Standing outside the Rolls Royce,Jonathanand Alex hear the GUNFIRE.They both attack the door handle,fighting over it.

Thefront door opens and they both leap inside.

Jonathan jams the key into the ignition and frantically turns it, thekey BREAKS OFF in the ignition.Alex SCREAMS at him.

Ardeth Bey races across the catwalk,BLASTING AWAY, keeping everybody pinned down. O'Connell uses one hand to snap open a butterfly knife and cut the ropes holding Evy, at the same time, his other hand is pumping shotgun BLASTS.One of which blowsa Priest backwards into another Priest,who falls into thescarab filled sarcophagus •.ThePriest SCREAMSand FLAILS WILDLY as the hideous flesh eating scarabsENVELOP HIM.

Imhotepsteps up to the BLACK URNwhere his 41 Servants"are kept. Bullets RIP THROUGH HIM. Be doesn't seem to mind.

O'Connell and Evy start racing up a staircase.

Imhotep RIPS the lid off the black urn,--A MASS OF SAND EXPLODES OUT OF IT andFORMS INTO FOUR SOLDIER MUMMIES. O'Connell, Evy and .Ardeth Bey meet at the top ofthe staircase, they look downand see the Soldier Mummies.

lmhotep points to our heroes, then looks at the Soldier Mummies and utters thosefamous words:

O'Connell yanks Evyout the door. Ardath Bey is right behind. The Soldier Mummieshunker into attack position and SCREECH.

Jonathan and Alex scrambleout of the car. They hear the distant SOUND of the SoldierMummies SCREECHING INSANELY. Jonathan grabs Alex tightly,panicking.

The side door of themuseum BURSTS OPEN. O'Connell, Evy and Ardath Bey run out.'l'heyrace down the alley.Behind them, the brick wall of the museum EXPLODES as the four Soldier Mummies jump through it in perfect unison, hit the pavement, pivot sharply, and stridedown the alley after them.·

O'Connell, Evy.andArdath Bey race out into the deserted street and up to theempty Rolls Royce.

A BRIGHT RED DOUBLE-DECKERBUS careens around the corner. Jonathan at the wheel,nervously trying to maintain control. The bus slows.Alex pulls open the door. O'Connell,Evy and Ardath Bey leap inside.Evy hugs Alex. O'Connell gives Jonathan a look-to-kill.

O'Connell is incredulous.

Jonathan points toAlex.

JonathanHITS THE GAS and SHIFTS UP. The bus lurchesforward. O'Connell runs to the back of thebus and looks out.He sees the four SoldierMummies stride .outof the alley,two-by-two assault formation.They pivot and march rightup and over his Rolls Royce.Severely CRUSHING the trunk, roof and bonnet. O'Connell is devastated.

The SoldierMummies fan out, four abreast, and begin to accelerate after the bus.O'Connell looks at Ardeth Bey.

O'Connell heads for the staircase.

He sees his son looking athim.

Alex just roll his eyes.O'Connell heads up the stairs. Ardeth Bey hefts his machine-gun.Aims it at the back window.

O'Connell comes up onto theTOP DECK of the bus. Sees the Soldier Mummies CHARGINGafter him. And gaining quickly.

Okay, here we go, everything happens at once,READ FAST:

O'Connell starts pumpingSBO'l'GUNBLASTSdown at the Soldier Mummies. Blows out severalribcages. All four Soldier Mummies instantly fan out andRUN UP THE SIDES OF THE BUILDINGS, running horizontal to the street,two on either side.

One of the Soldier MummiesLEAPS off the building and plasters himself to theback window of the bus, --WHAM! Scares the shit out ofArdeth Bey. He OPENS FIRE. Blasts the window. SBA'l"l'ERCI'l'Y.TheSoldier Mummy isRIPPED INHALF. The lower half of it'sbody drops away and hits the street.

Another Soldier MummyLEAPS off a building at O'Connell. O'Connell FIRES. Blows itout of the air. He feels something coming and pivots, --too late. Another SoldierMummy FLIES through the.air and TACKLEShim. They both SLAM to the deck. O'Connell's shotgun skitters offdown the aisle. READ FASTER:

Ardeth Bey popsthe cartridge out of his machine-gun, it drops to the .floor,he fumbles for another one.Suddenly, the torso of the SoldierMwmny he just shot in halfSWINGS in through the shattered rear window,SCREAMINGin rage. Ardeth Bey starts backpedaling up the aisle, trying to reload.

The Soldier Mummy up top grabs O'Connell's throat, liftshim to his feet and startsSTRANGLING HIM.

Ardeth Bey backpedals up the aisle,having trouble reloading. The half-SoldierMummy chases him, scurrying over the seats using only it's hands, like a crazed monkey,SCREECHING WILDLY. Evy and Alex see it coming,they YELLat Jonathan.

EVY/ALEX TURNJ TURNITURN!

Jonathan CRANKSTHE WHEEL.

The bus SLEWSBARD TO THE LEFT. Up top,O'Connell and the SoldierMummy strangling him are THROWNacross the aisle.

So is Ardeth Bey and the half-Soldier Mummy. Ardeth Bey's gun goes flying out thewindow. The bus ROARS into HydePark.

O'Connell quickly crawls on hishands andknees as fast as he can down the aisletowards his shotgun.

Ardeth Bey leaps to his feet,unarmed. The half-SoldierMummy rises up overa seat in front of him and lifts it'sdeformed hand, --RAZORSHARP, FOUR INCH FINGERNAILS GROWout of it's fingertips. ItSWIPES at Ardeth Bey. RIPS intohis cU:m. Ardeth Bey SCREAMSand falls back. Evy and Alex grab him.

O'Connell's fingertipsgrab the butt of the shotgun.He's almost got a grip on it.

The half-Soldier Mummy SCREECHESand leaps forward.

EVY/ALEX TURN! TURN! TURN!

Jonathan CRANKS THE WHEEL.

The bus SLEWS HARD TO THE RIGHT.O'Connell's shotgun goes skittering away from him.His eyes widen as he sees it tumble down into the stairwell.They get even wider as the Soldier Mummy behind him grabs hisankle and LIFTS HIM UP.

The half-Soldier Mummy SWIPESat Ardeth Bey again. RIPS him across the chest. ArdethBey slams into the wall of the bus, dazed and hurt. The half-Mummycloses in for the kill.

Evy hears something to her right,she looks: it's O'Connell's shotgun tumbling dONn the stairs.Evy grabs it..Pumps it..

The half-Mummy lifts ArdethBey up with one hand while drawing his hideous clawfingersback for the final blow. Evy spins around and pulls the trigger,--BLAMJ Point blank. Blows the half-Mummy to pieces.

Jonathan and Alex are staring out through the front windshield. Eyes wideningin unison.

JONATHAN/ALEX UH-OH.

Up ahead, is a very low hanging pedestrainBRIDGE.

JONATHAN/ALEX (in unison) We're not gonna make itl

Op top, O'Connell is tryingto fight off the Soldier Mwmny as it viciously strangles him.Then he sees something over the Soldier Mummy'• shoulder. O'Connell's eyes widen.Be throws a wild punch, knocks himself free.Hits the deck and covers his head. The Soldier Mummy looksdown at him, then quickly turns to see what's coming. --It'sthe bridge.

The bottom two-thirds of thebus goes under the bridge. The top third is RIPPED CLEAN OFF, taking the SoldierMummy right along with it.

BACKUP ON TOP OF THE BUS: O'Connell cautiously opens his eyes, --there's nothing but tom metal all around him. The bus races out ontoTower Bridge.

Alex throws his arms around Jonathan.

Jonathan hugs Alex with his freearm;we see how close they are.A moment of calm. And then Alex hears something to his immediate right.He turns and looks,--A SOLDIER MUMMY POPS UP INTOTHE OPEN WINDOW, clinging to the side of the bus. Alex SCREAMS. Jonathan SCREAMS. The Soldier MummySCREAMS!

And then the barrel of a shotgun whips intoFRAME over Alex's shoulder and right into the Soldier Mummy's mouth.

Alex scrunches his eyes shut. O'Connell pulls the trigger. The Soldier MUDDDy'shead is BLOWN OFF.

The headless Mummy's body FLIES off thebus and out over Tower Bridge.

Jonathan starts to shift down. Coming .from the engine isa SOUND like nails being dropped into a blender.This bus is a write-off. O'Connell looks at Ardeth Bey.

Ardeth Bey winces painfully.

O'Connell gives Evy a hangdog grin.She gives him a sexy smile, then lifts a finger and curls it,gesturing for him to cane hither. He does. She grabs him.They KISS gently. Jonathan and Alex both roll their eyes in disgust.

JONATHAN/ALEX Oh pu-leeeeze.

Alex walks off downthe aisle, shaking his head. The bus slowly CLATTERSto a stop. O'Connell and Evy unlock and look into each other's eyes.O'Connell SIGHS HEAVILY.

They both smile. And that'swhen they hear Alex YELLING.They turn and see him beingpulled out a back window by Lock-Nab. Evy SCREAMS.

O'Connell practicallythrows himself down the aisle.He makes it to the window intime to see Alex struggling with Lock-Nah and several red turbaned men on top of aflatbed truck,which WHIPS AROUND and CHARGESback out onto the bridge.

EX'!'.BUS -NIGHT

O'Connell comes tea.ringout of the bus withEvy and Jonathan right on his tail.He races after the truck. But theTower's drawbridge STARTSTO RISE UP in front of him, cutting him off. The truck CAREENSoff the far end of bridge and vanishes up an alley. O'Connell staggers toa stop, looking likea guy who's just had hisheart ripped out.

Imhotep stands on the uppermost parapet of the British Museum, surrounded by moldy copper gargoyles.

He turns to Meela,who is looking sexy as hell.

Meela smiles. In the background, the High Priest nervously urges her on.

Meela stays him with a glance, then looks at lmhotep and steels herself.

Imhotep looks at her,-and then just smiles.

His face hardens in anger and he givesher a bitter smile.

Then he leans in tokiss her. His ugly corpse face frightens her. She startsto leanback. THE SCREEN FLASHES.They are now face-to-face in Pharaoh's palace.Handsome lmhotep and beautiful Anck-su-namun.Anck looks around, surprised to be there. Imbotepcontinues to lean in for his kiss. Anck grins at the handsomeman, then kisses him hard and closes her eyes. THE SCREENFLASHES. Imhotep's rotted face and fetid lips are nowkissing Meela's smooth skin and full lips. It.'sa good t.hinghe:eyes are closed. l'mhotep'sface ROTS AWAY just a littlebit more.

O'Connell andEvy stare out over theThames to where the truck vanished, looking stricken. Ardeth Bey steps up.

O'Connell andEvy turn and look at him.

ARDE'.rHBEY They gan not hurt hlJD.Forhe wears the bracelet of Anubis.

O'Connell just wants answers,he steps towards Ardeth Bey.

A TRAIN is pulling out of CAIRO STATION.The FIFTY ARMED MEN in black turbans sit on top of each car. In the background, are the pyramids and the Sphinx of the Giza Plateau.

Lock-Nab pulls Alex into a luxury parlor car.Alex sees the High Priest hand Meela the black BOOK OFTHE DEAD. Alex points to it, very impressed.

Lock-Nah nods, then YANKSAlex out the back door. There is a knock on the front door as it opensand Red and Spivey step inside, followed by Abduland Muhammed, carrying a •box" shrouded in a blanket.The High Priest stares at them.

Abdul pulls the shroud off the•box", -it's the SAME EXACT CHEST the Americans foundand opened in the first movie. Abdul angrily fingers the hieroglyphson it's lid.

Spivey gives them a grin.

Lock-Nab is furious.

Lock-Nabreaches for his scimitar. Meela stopshim.

She turns andheads for the back door.

The interior of thisboxcar has been transformed into an ancientEgyptian temple. Lit by TORCHES. Incense burns.Very Dl00ciy.Therear door opens. Alex is hustled inby Lock-Nah, who _closes the door and escorts Alex up toahooded FIGURE. Lock-Nabbows down. The Figure turns around.Alex SCREAMS. It's Imhotep,looking incredibly creepy andgrosa.

PUSH IN:on Imhotep as he begins speakingANCIENT EGYPTIAN. PULLOUT: as his ANCIENT EGYPTIAN morphs into ENGLISH:

Alex blinks, then shakes his head, a bit disconcerted.Then he stops himselffran trembling and tries to be brave.

Lock-Nah is staring at Alex and Imhotep, to him,they are BOTH speakingANCIENT EGYPTIAN.

Imhotep grabs the bracelet on Alex's wrist.Alex is terrified.

Imhotep reaches over and flipsa large HOURGLASSfilled with black sand.The sand begins to pour.

Imhotep stares at the bracelet.Alex stares at Imhotep.

Imhotep lookshim square in the eyes.

Alex slowly gritshis teeth and gives Imhotep a hard stare.

VOICES areheard caning fran outside. Imhotep spinsaround andheads back to the altar. Lock-Nab quicklygrabs Alex and pullshim out the front door. Meela enters through the rear door,ushering Red, Spivey, Abdul, and Muhammed inside.

Meela gives him a very seductive look.

Abdul and Muhammed carry the chest into the gloomy cabin. Meela quickly sweeps out behind all of them and shuts the door,LOCKING IT from the outside.Spivey looks spooked.

Red and Abdul squint into the smokycar. They can just barely make out a large shadow. Red draws his pistol.

Imhotep steps intoa SHAFT OF LIGHTand SHRIEKS. Red, Spivey, Abdul, and Muhammed just about·jumpout of their skin. Spivey andMuhammed start to SCREAM and PANIC andCLAW at the back door. The metal plate covering thepeep hole slides back, revealing Meela's beautiful face.

The peep hole slams shut. Spivey goesfor it. Abdul YELLS:

But Spivey grabs the lid-to the chest and pulls,-it POPS OPEN WITH A LOUD HISS AND A BLAST OFWHITE VAPOR. Imhotep's mouth starts to open wide, AND KEEPS OPENING, untilhis mouth is aboutthe size of an oil drum. Then be LUNGESFORWARD and SUCKS MtJBAMMADINTO-HIS MOUTH. He immediately SPITSHIM OUT. Muhammad's SHRIVELLED CORPSE slams off a wall anddrops to the floor.Now even Red and Abdul freak out.

Imhotep startsstalking them. He SUCKS Spivey into his mouth. SPITS HIMOUT. Spivey's shrivelled corpse STICKS to the wall. Red andAbdul start FIRING their revolvers.

The High Priest hears theTWO GUNS FIRING and looksup from the book he's reading.Meela enters and sits acrossfrom him.

Now onlyONE GUN FIRES •...Andthenall goes quiet.She smiles.

Imhotep steps out of theshadows, nowFULLY REGENERATED, looking more muscular and handsomethanever. And he seems quite pleased with himself.

Jonathan'sDussenberg trundles across the desert and up to a beat-to-shitAIRPOR'I'HANGAR.A SIGNREADS:

O'Connell,Evy and Jonathan get out of thecar. The hangar door opens.A wild-haired MECHANIC covered in grease steps out.This is IZZY. He takes one look at O'Connell and immediately runsback inside, SLAMS the door andLOCKS IT. Evy gives O'Connell a look.

Jonathan lifts up the Scepter of Osiris.

--o,connellsnatches it away.

O'CONNELL

Jonathan scurries.away. O'Connell walksup to the hangar door, pulls his gun and SHOOTSOFF the doorhandle. Evy gives him another look.

O'Connell holsters his gun.

He KICKS the door open,then courteously waves Evy in.

Izzy is very upset, pacing andRANTING:

Evy looks at O'Connell and raises aneyebrow.

O'Connell lamely triesto cover.

Izzy looks at Evy.

Evy cringes. Izzy gesturesto O'Connell.

Evy cocks an eyebrow at O'Connell.

Then she looks back at Izzy.

O'Connell slams a large bundle of cash onto the table, trying to change the subject.

O'Connell punctuates hisdialogue by pointing the Scepter at Izzy:

O'Connell notices that Izzyhas been staring at the Scepter. He moves the Scepter tothe left. Izzy's eyes follow it.He points it to the right. Izzy's eyes are locked on.Up.Down. Izzy's head comicallymoves with the Scepter. O'Connell smiles knowingly. Izzy finally points to the Scepter.

O'Connell hands Izzy the Scepter.Izzy grabs it. O'Connell doesn't let go of it.

O'Connell lets go.Izzy gleefully scurries away. Jonathan staggers upand drops the luggage.

O'Connell looks at him.

O'Connell andJonathan step out of the hangar, followedby Izzy, wiping his greasyhands across his dirtyyellow shirt, and givingEvy a flirty, rotten toothed smile.

And then he spots ArdathBey and TWELVE MEDJAIWARRIORS sitting on horses.He stops in his tracks, suddenly nervous.

Ardeth Bey dismounts.

A FALCON on theaJ:mof one of the Mec:ljaiCommandersflies off and over toArdath Bey, landing on his outstretchedarm. Jonathan looks atArdath Bey and grins.

Ardeth Bey lovingly strokes Horus' feathers.

Ardeth Bey looks at the otherCommanders, then with an open palm he touches his heart and waves ittowards the sun.

The Commanders make thesame sign and CALL BACK:

Then they rear their horsesaround and gallop off.

O'Connell, Evy, Jonathan and Ardeth Bey round the side of the hangar. They come toa dead stop as they look up and see:

A small golden DIRIGIBLE,a blimp, floating in the air,held down by mooring lines. Slung to its underbellyis adecrepit old FISHING TRAWLER.An airplane propeller sticksout of the rear of the boat engine. It all looks very hand-made and jerry-rigged. Izzy stands in front of it,grinning proudly.

O'Connell looks very annoyed.

O'Connell does a slowburn as Ardath Bey shakes his head.

O'Connell,Evy, Jonathan and Ardeth Bey followIzzy up the gangway.There are multiple BANNERS slung along the side of the boatcovered in NAMES WRITTEN IN ARABIC.

Izzy cuts the mooringlines. The blimpBEGINS TO ASCEND. CtrrWIDE:as the 'blimpmotors off intothe desert towards a gorgeousSETTING SUN. DISSOLVE TO: a fantasticFULL MOON, as theblimp floats across it. A billionstars twinkle brightly.

Jonathanand Ardeth Bey are sitting alongside the cabin•. Jonathan'sarm is reaching into a porthole,scrounging around inside for something.Ardath Bey is lovingly petting Horus.

Jonathan looksnervous.

Then he pulls the Scepter out through the porthole.

Jonathan proudly puffs up his chest.

Izzy walks past and snatches it out of Jonathan's hand.

Jonathan looks crestfallen. Ardeth Bey just laughs.

UP AT THE BOW: O'Connell steps up toEvy, who is staring out at the fantastic landscapes below. Shestartsto tremble.

Evy starts to cry. O'Connell gently wraps his arms a.round her and hugs her tight.

He sees the GOLD DISC in her hands and points to an engraving of someAnubis Warriors, trying to get her mind off of Alex.

Evy looks intobis eyes and gives him a slight smile,she knows what he'strying to do, and she loves him for it.

Evy's eyes drift off.O'Connell hugs her tighter.

The SUN RISES behindthe train as it races between giant golden sand dunes.

A tight little passengercompartment. Alex drums his fingers on the windowsill andstares at Lock-Nah, who sits across from him and stares rightback.

Lock-Nahleaps up and SLAMS a knifebladedown between two of Alex's fingers,missing them by a hair.Alex just stares.

Look-Nabyanks the knife out.

Alex's eyes widen. Lock-Nab starts picking his teeth with the blade.Alex glares at him.

The bathroom door opens and Alex looks into the most rancid, filthy,disgusting, windowlesscraphole imaginable. He looks up at Lock-Nab, and in a very dainty voice says:

Lock-Nab crosses his arms and staresdown at Alex. Alex stares right back up at him.

Lock-Nab snarls, then steps out andslams the door. Alex looks around, disgusted and dejected, then he looks down into the•toilet".

He gingerly grabs the rusty chain and pulls.There is a loud FLUSHING SOUND•.And--then-Alex's eyes widen.

The bottom of the toilet hasOPENED and is spilling rinsewater right onto the train tracks.Alex quickly grabs the rusty toilet and pulls, peelingit back to reveal a HOLE big enough for-h.im·tofit through.The tracks WHIZZ past.

The brakes on the train suddenly LOCK-UP.The train starts to SCREECH to a stop near the hugeTEMPLE AT KARNAC. Men SHOU'l'inARABIC and broken English.Something about ''theboy has escaped!". Several men on top of the trainOPEN FIRE.

Imhotep's boxcar doors CRASHOPEN. Imhotep stands in the doorway. Be sees Alex, scurrying off through the ruins, heading for the temple, bulletsRICOCHETING all around him. Imhotep angrily looks up at the twomen firing above him. He raises his aJ:mS.The two men are suddenly picked up off their feet by an invisible force, lifted into the&ir, viciously SLAMMED together, then flung like rag dolls into the ruins.

IJDbotep's£age DECAYS a bit fromthe effort. Alex vanishes into the templecomplex. Meela and the High Priest turn and glareat Lock-Nab, who angrily lowers his head in shame.

Alex races into a temple room,panting from exhaustion. Suddenly, the room fills with a VISION: It's the exterior cf KARNAC, only brand spankingnew. Then the vision races across the desert to the fJ.'EMPLEISLANDOFPHILAE,circa 2,000 B.C•• A GIANT MAN suddenly comes striding across the island.The vision vanishes. It's Imhotep.He stops in front cf Alex. Alex is suddenly LEVITATED off his feetand brought up to eye level with Imhotep. Imhotep's faceROTS AWAY a tiny bit more. He grins and wags a moldy finger at Alex.

The blimp floats high over the Nile, backlit by another gorgeous SUNSET. O'Connell andArdath Bey are busy locking and loading, preparing for l:>attle.

Evy strolls up,looking very worried.

O'Connell looks over atIzzy, sitting up in the cockpit.

O'Connell gives Evy a wink and a reassuring squeeze.Evy forces a smile and heads for thebow of the boat. Suddenly, her eyes start to glaze over and she goes into atrance-

e INT. KARNAC TEMPLE POOL -DAY

·Imhotep isCHANTING over a tinySACRED POOL covered in FOG. Meela stares into it, her eyesgluing, going into a trance. Imhotep stops chanting and turns to her.

He passes his hand overthe fog, it begins to part, revealing not a pool',but a VISIONOF ANCIENT EGYPT: PHARAOH'S PALACE.

The SCREEN FLASHES and we findourselves in ancient times.

Two Egyptian Princesses, their faces hidden by ornate gold MASKS, are engaged in hand-to-handcombat, these are the same two Princesses depicted in the hieroglyphs atthe beginning ',__,,,i of the movie. Imhotep and PHARAOHwatch, greatly amused.

Using small, hand-heldTRIDENTS, the two gorgeous women expertly PUNCH,KICK, ELBOW and BACKHAND each other as they brilliantly fight across the palacechamber. One of the Princesses is viciously thrown to the floor,HERMASK IS KNOCKED OFF, --It'sm.

The other woman lunges forward,stopping her knife a quarter inch before it plunges intoEvy's neck. The metal flapson the woman's mask SNAPOPEN, -revealing ANCK. The look in her eyes tells us she'd likenothing better than to drive her knife to the hilt.Evy gives the look right back at her, clearly, there's nolove lost between these two.Anck forces herself to smile atEvy.

Imhotep,Pharaoh and the surrounding COURTIERS applaud as the two women get to their feet.Pharaoh steps forward.

Pharaoh hugsNefertiri.-She lovingly hugs him back.And then, over Pharaoh's shoulder,she sees Anck and Imhotepexchange knowing looks.

Evy's eyes narrow suspiciously•

Nefertiri is strolling theparapet, enjoying the night air. She looks acrossthe pa.lacecourtyard and spies Anck coming through same drapesand into a bedroom. Nefertiri scowls, and then her eyes startto widen in surprise.

CUT TO FOO'l'AGEFROM'1'HEFIRST MOVIE:Anck glides up to Imhotep, standing in the bedroom.She passes her hand over his face in her special wayand they start to KISS.

Nefertiri looks away, furious, trying to decide what to do. Then she looks back across the courtyardand sees Pharaoh entering the bedroom.Anck now stands alone.

CUT TO FOOTAGE FROM FIRST MOVIE:Pharaoh strides up to Anck and accuses her. Anck's eyes flicker over his shoulder. Pharaoh turns around. It's Imhotep.He grabs Pharaoh's sword.

Nefertiri starts to panic,she quickly looks around and spots some Medjai bodyguards in the courtyard.She points to the bedroom amd YELLS:

EVY/NEFERTIRI (ancient Egyptian - subtitled) Quickly! My father needs youJ

Nefertiri looks back across the courtyard in time to see: FOOTAGE FROM FIRST MOVIE:Imhotep and Anck STABBING PHARAOH.

Evy lunges forward, SCREAMINGin anguish.

\,•,., O'Connell and the othersturn and look just as Evy starts to ,____,, FALL OVER THE RAILING. 0' ConnellLEAPSUP and DIVES for Evy, he grabs her hand, --butis pulled right over the railing along with her! At the last secondhis free hand grabsone of the banners slung alongside the boat. --but the banners RIP AWAY from the railing,SNAP-SNAP-SNAP1 The last one finally catches. Their descentJERKS TO A STOP.

Evy dangles from O'Connell's outstretchedarm, looking shocked. There's a half mile of dead air between them and the earth below. O'Connell strains under the weight, fighting the tug of gravity. Be gives his wife an incredulous look.

Meela is still in a trance, staring into the pool,she YELLS:

MEELA/ANCK (ancient Egyptian - subtitled) Got Save yourself! Only you can resurrect mel

Imhotepis dragged away by his priests.Anck spins around as the Medjai enter-the room•.She curses them and STABSHERSELF.

Meela CRIES OUT, her eyes snapopen and go blank, as if she's just died fromshock. Imhotep isna.,,readingfrom the black Book Of The Dead. Suddenly, Anck'sBOG SPIRIT rises up out of pool and gloms onto Meela's faceand body. The bog spirit sucks itself right into her.Anck awakensand looks at Imhotep.He looks back at her,lovingly.

Anck stares at him, and then her face softens and she smiles.

Imhotep gesturesaround at the temple ruins surrounding them.

IMBO'rEP (ancientEgyptian - subtitled) Our love has lasted longer than the temples of our gods.

Anck passes her hand over his face in her special way,and then they embrace and kisspassionate1y.

Izzy sits up in the cockpit, gliding theblimp through the clouds. O'COnnell, Evy, Jonathan and ArdethBey sit around a warm, glowing barrel of fire.

Jonathan leans in to Ardath Bey.

Ardeth Bey just smiles and looks back atEvy.

Ardeth Bey looks at O'Connell.

O'Connell gives ArdethBey a sarcastic look.

ARDE'l'HBEY Bowelse do you explain ,hm.:dreams, andZQJ.t.ttattoo?

O'Connell shrugs it off, then wraps bisarmaround Evy, getting a little frisky.

Evy giveshim a big sarcastic smile.

She gets upand walks off. O'Connell looks really bummed.

O'Connell gives Izzyan angry look. Izzy starts whistling innocentlyand slides out of sight in the cockpit.

Inside a tent,Alex paces in a circle,and that's all he can do because hisankle is chained to athick stake driven deep into the ground.Lock-Nab rips the flap back and enters.

Alex holds up the bracelet.

Lock-Nab freezes in his tracks.Alexsmiles.

Lock-Nab angrily hands Alex a cup of water.

Lock-Nab snarls and storms out of the tent.Alex smiles to himself,then looks around to see if anyone's watching him. He getsdown on his hands and knees, spills the cup of water ontoa pile of sand and starts playing withit.

The train·sits idle by the side of the great temple as O'Connell stealthily moves through the ruins,guns up. He stops and signals Ardeth Bey,who nods and dashes across the sand and up to the train.ArdethBey sticks his gun into the parlor car. It's empty. O'Connell throwsopen the door to Imhotep'sboxcar. It's also empty. --The last bit ofsand drains out of the top of theHOURGLASS.O'Connell is crushed.

Ardeth Bey looks out across the deserted temple complex.

And then O'Connell spots something. A glimmerof hope f1its across his eyes.He starts to run.

O'Connell races across the sand and up to a little BOY'S TIE hanging from a branch.

Evy runs up to him ashe gestures with a smile.

TILT DOWN: from thetie to the ground. The tie isactually pointing to a tiny "sandtemple" en the ground. Intricately shaped. Very distinctive. It's what Alex was working en.

O'Connell is elated and proud.

TIGHT ON: a tiny SCRAPOF PAPER with Arabic writing being rolled up and stuck into a tinytube. The tube is magnetically stuck to the leg of Horus the falcon. Ardeth Bey launches Horus,who flies off over the temple.

PUSH IN: on the tiny sand temple, thenwe do a perfectMATCH DISSOLVE TO: THE ISLANDOF PHILAE, as the blimp touches down.

TIGHT ON: ALEX'S JACKET,lying en the ground.O'Connell bends down and picks it up,underneath it is another TINYSAND TEMPLE: a cone shaped mountain with four Collcssi.Evygrins.

Again, Ardeth Bey launches Horus,who flies away. PUSH IN: on the tinyAbu SiJabelsand castle, thenMATCH DISSOLVE TO: The Great TempleOf Abu Simbel as theblimp lifts off from it. Horus flies right pastCAMERA.

Way off in the-distance, traversing ahuge sand dune, is a caravan of a sixty men,one woman and one kid on cam.els.

TIGHT ON: Lock-Nah.Bearing the CRY OF A FALCON. A knowing look crosses his face.His eyes scan the desert for Horus.

Horus lands on the um of a Medjai Commmander. Behind him are a HUNDRED WARRIORS on horseback.The Commander removes the note from the tube and reads it,then CALLS OUT:

As the Commander and his men move out,WE CRANE UP: and over the dune behind them, toreveal: TEN THOUSAND MORE WARRIORS.

The blimp floats throughdeep canyons, following ariver. A BALD HEAD steps into theEXTREME FOREGROUND, watching the blimp as it vanishesaround a canyon corner. --It's Imhotep.

O'Connell, Evy, Jonathan and Ardath Beystare at the river.

Alex sits by the edge of the water, surreptitiously making a design in the wet sand.A BOOT suddenly stomps on the design. It's Lock-Nah. Be YANKSAlex to his feet, furious.

Imhotep steps up and looksdown at the smashed design, then he looks at Alex andstarts speaking ANCIEN'l'EGYPTIAN.--But to Alex, it's ENGLISH:

Imhotep turns and wades out into the Nile.He starts to raise his a.nns.A MASSIVE WALLOF WATER RISES UP OUT OF THERIVER.

O'Connell, Evy, Jonathan and Ardeth Beyare looking out over the bow of the fishing trawler.Suddenly, they hear aLOUD RUMBLE. Izzy is the firstone to look back and see it coming:

A MASSIVE WALL OF WATERCRASHES DOWN THE CANYON. CHARGING RIGHT AT THEM. Throwing rocksand boulders out of it's way. Everybody reacts. O'ConnellYELLS at Izzy.

Izzy pulls the FLAMECABLE and turns the wheel. Theblimp ACCELERATES and startsto corner into a smaller side canyon.

A GIANT FACE forms insidethe massive wall of water. It's lmhotep. He startl!Itoopenhis HUGE WATERY MOU'l'H.

Izzy ignites the afterburners and fires up the hand-made booster rockets, --WHOOSH!FLAMES shoot out the rear of the fishing trawler.The blimp makes it into the side canyon. The massive wall of water doesn'tmake the turn. lmhotep's watery face SCREAMS inanger as it explodes past the blimp.

Everybody stares back at the big canyon as it recedes. Jonathan is the firstone to turn and look forward.His jaw just about hits the floor.

Everybody turns to see whatJonathan's seeing. Up ahead,this smaller canyon dumps into aMASSIVE BOWL SHAPED CANYONFILLED WITH AN ENORMOUS JUNGLE.Ardeth Bey nods in wonderment.

ARDE'l'HBEY Ahm Shere.

O'Connell snaps out his telescopeand zooms in. TELESCOPE POV: way off across the jungle is the TIP of aGOLD PYRAMID.

And that's when they hear anotherRUMBLE. Izzy looks back.

AnotherMASSIVE WALL OF WATER is charging downthe canyon and coming right at them.Imhotep's crazed, watery faceforms

swallow theblimp. Izzy kicks the throttle, ignites the afterburnersand fires up the booster rockets,giving it all. she's got,--WHOOSH! FLAMES shoot out the sides of the boat.

Theblimp ACCELERATES out of the canyon, --but it's too late. The MASSIVEWAVE OF WA'l'ERexplodesout of the .canyon behind it. Imhotep's hugewatery mouth ENGULFS'1'HEBLIMP.The blimp CRASHESdown into the jungle along with a massive quantity of water.

Imhotep staggers out of the Nile,exhausted,his face horriblyDECAYED. He looks at Alex. Alexreacts in horror.

EXT~ JUNGLE - DAY

The blimp is half deflated; the trawler a torn up mess. O'COnnell, Evy, Jonathan and Ardath Beyare putting on packs filled withweaponry and gear. O'Connell looks atIzzy.

Izzy is pacing and ranting angrily.

Jonathan makes sure Izzy isn't looking, then he steals the Scepter of Osiris and shoves it into his pack.

O'Connell walks up and slaps him on the back.

Ardeth Bey launches Horusas they head off into the jungle.

TheCAMERA follows Horus as he fliesup over the canopy. Lock-Nah suddenly appears in the foreground,aiming down the barrel of his rifle.He FIRES.

Ardeth Bey spins around as he hearsthe report of a rifle and the CRY of a falcon.

He staggers forward and stares up into the canopy,now it's Ardeth Bey's turn to look devastated,A LONG BEAT, and then he starts to take off his pack.

O'Connell gently grabs his armand stops him.

Ardeth Bey stares at him, sees the look in O'Connell's eyes.

O'Connell nods in appreciation.Ardeth Bey raises an eyebrow.

O'Connell gives him his most dangerous smile.

A FULL MOON shines down on thedark jungle. The High Priest and Lock-Nah are on horses, leadinga walking caravan of black turbans carrying TORCHES.Imhotep and Anck are being carried on pallets by red turbaned men.Alex is near the back, his hands tied in front ofhim, looking a bit scared.

Everyone's eyes widen in horror as theycame upon HUNDREDS OF ROTTED SKELETONS scattered throughout thejungle. Some piled high, others lying off by themselves.Many appear to have been barbecued alive on fire spits. All are wearing the various tattered remains of once gloriousuniforms and a:rmour.The FULL MOON gives them a creepy glow.

Each and every person is terrified. All except Imhotep.

O'Connell and Ardetb Bey areaming themselves to the teeth. O'Connell suddenly looksaround.

The two men share a nervous look.Evy and Jonathan are locking and loadingrifles. Jonathan sees something and brushes back the foliage.A dozenSHRUNKEN HEADS dangle from a pole. Jonathan'seyes widen.

In unison, O'Connell,Evy andArdeth Bey all give him a look.

Jonathan looks indignant.

Be hefts a longrifle. Ardath Bey looks athim.

Be fumbles with the rifle,almost drops it.

O'Connell steps up to his wife.

The caravan comes into a clearing.Far off in the distance, they all see the TIP ofthe GOLD PYRAMID spiking the stars. Imhotep grins. The High Priest,Lock-Nah, and Anck all smile. In the back, Alexis suddenly looking very nervous.

Lock-Nab whispers to the High Priest,who nods and looks back at Imhotep.

(ancient Egyptian -subtitled) My Lord, now there is no need for the boy.

Imhotep gives himaknowing·grin.

Lock-Nahgrins, then turns his horse andstarts riding back down the movingcaravan, heading for Alex. Alex's eyes widen. He tries to backaway, but is pushed forward.Then suddenly, for no reason,Lock-Nah's horse STOPS andstarts BUCKING and WHINNYINGWILDLY. The High Priest's horse does the same.The whole caravanis forced to come to a stop.The two men prod at their spooked horses and curse them inArabic.

A GENTLEBREEZE begins to blow through the jungle and swirl around the caravan,accompanied by a creepy SOUND, like an eerie wind whistling throughdry bones.Imhotep knows what's coming.He YELLS a command to themen carrying him. They set him·andAnck down.

One of theblack turbaned men sees samethinglying against a tree,almost molded into it. Heslowly approaches. It's a hideousPYGMY CORPSE. Branches and vines have grown through it's bones, whichare bleached a ghostly white.The man leans in fora closer look at the gruesamething. It's crusty eyelids suddenlySNAP OPEN. TheMan SCREAMS. It has no eyes. It HISSES throughrotted teeth andSir.ABShimin the chest with a small spear. The Man SCREAMSLOUDER and dies.

O'Connell andArdeth Bey hear theSCREAM- And then the gentle BREEZE starts to whistle around t:hem.Thetwo men look at each other.Eyes an fire. O'Connellhetts the two revolvers in hishanclsand nods his head.Ardeth Bey lifts a machine- gun in one hand anda sword in the other,and nods back. They both take off running through the jungle. Full bore.

As the BREEZE turns into a strong WIND,Lock-Nab and the High Priest are THRONN from their horses. All the black turbaned men aim their guns into the foliage,their fear-filled eyes sweeping the jungle.The creepy NOISE is getting louder and closer.

Evy hefts the rifle to her shoulder and adjusts the sight.

O'Connell and Ardeth Beycrash through the jungle, coming up on the caravan from the rear.O'Connell spots Alex.

Lock-Nab is also heading forAlex. And he's only ten feet away. Alex sees him coming.His eyes widen in terror. Lock-Nab withdraws hisrazor sharp scimitar, --SHING!

OKAY. HERE WE GO. EVERYTHINGHAPPENS AT ONCE:

A black turbaned man suddenlyjerks foxward SCREAMING. He spins around, his backis plastered with BLOW DARTS. The surrounding foliage suddenly comes a.live withMOVEMEN'r, accompanied by a horrible HISSING sound.Arrows and blow darts explode out ofthe bushes. The black turbanedmen all panic and aimlesslyOPEN FIRE.

Alex backs away fromLock-Nab, who is still coming athim, but starting to losehim in the exploding frenzy.

TIGHT ON: O'Connell.Bis eyes never leaving Alex.

Imhotep grabs Anck's bandand starts to pull her away.Anck lunges back and grabsthe Book of the Dead off her pallet. The two of them run off into the jungle.

O'Connell and Ardath Bey sprint into the frenzy,cuttingdown black and red turbaned men with equal abandon,like two human scythes. O'Connell goesempty, tosses his pistols. Several black turbaned men turn to shoothim, --but are suddenlyshot· off their feet because:

UP IN THE ROCKS: Evy and Jonathan areFIRING round after round. Perfect precision.Completely emotionless. We look down their GUNSIGHTS: they're actually clearing a path for O'Connell and A:rdethBey,shooting men out of theirway.

Lock-Nah steps up toAlex and raises his scimitar.

O'Connell grabs a shotgunshouldered across his back, whips it forward and CHARGES for Alex.

Lock-Nab SWINGS his scimitardown at Alex with all his might. Alex SCREAMS. The scimitarPRANGS off O'Connell's shotgun. O'Connell scoops Alex up on therun. Doesn't even slow down.

Lock-Nab spins around andis about to throw his scimitar at II~. O'Connell's back, when Ardeth Bey leaps out of the fray and i\ the two men immediately go at it. All the other men are SCREAMING, running,SHOOTING and dying.

O'Connell throws Alex up over his shoulder.Alex isnow looking back. His eyes pop wide.

O'Connell spins around,sees TWO HIDEOUS PYGMYSKELETONS hot on their tail.He lifts his shotgun and FIRES.Both barrels. Point blank. Blows the pygmy skeletons to smithereens.

Ardath Bey and Lock-Nah are fiercelyBATTLINGAWAY. Scindtar against scimitar.Ardath Bey is clearly more pissed-off,more aggressive. He spinsaround and SLICES Lock-Nah'schest, then UPPERCUTS him acrossthe stomach. Lock-Nab dropsto his knees, mortally wounded. Ardeth Bey staresdownat him.

The MOUN'l'AINOFFLESHwho grabbed Evy at her home runs up behind Ardeth Bey,about to decapitate him with a scimitar. Ardeth Bey doesn't even seehim. At the very last second the mountain of flesh is hitby multiple bullets.

UP IN THEROCKS: Evy lowers her rifle.

Jonathan lowershis rifle, a complete emotional wreck.

They head offdown the rocks.

BACK WITHARDETB BEY: as he grabs the reins of Lock-Nah's horse, swingshimself up into the saddle and GALLOPSOFF. Lock-Nah falls facefirst into the mud. Dead as lead.

The High Priest anda dozen black and red turbaned men run for their lives through the jungle.The terrifying HISSING SOUND of pygmy skeletons fills the air,chasing after them, hunting them down,picking them off one-by-one, relentless.

Four men fall intoa PIT OF QUICKSAND. They flailabout, /-~. trying to get out.The High Priest and the others don't \ even slow down to help,a bunch of pygmy skeletons run right over them, forcingthem deeper into the muck,using them as stepping stones on theirway after the others.

The last two men areTACKLED to the ground bya group of pygmy skeletons,who immediately start GNAWING on them. The High Priest and his Servant run out into a clearing and race across a LINEOF WHITE STONES and small earthen mounds.

They come to a stop twenty feet beyond the markings.

A PYGMY SKELETONsprints right over the burial stonesand STABS the Servantin the heart with a spear,then runs off. The High Priest looks at his dyingServant.

The servant gives the High Priest an incredulous look,then keels over dead.The High Priest hears more pygmies skeletons coming. Frightened,he quickly withdraws a ceremonial dagger and sticks the sharpblade to his eyebrows.His other hand grasps his scalp.WE CUT AWAY as he starts to slice.

The High Priest's painfulSCREAMS echo through the jungle as Alex leaps into Evy'sarms. O'Connell runs upand slaps Jonathan on the back with a smile.

Ardeth Bey gallops up, reaches intohis pocket andflips sanething to O'Connell.

ARDE'l'HBEY Take this.

O'Connell checks it ·out. It·'s a beautifulGOLDBRANDwith a precise MASONICTEMPLAR LOGO gorgeously welded onto it.

ARDE'rHBEY Burn it into your son's&J:m. He has earned it.

O'Connell gives hima look like he's out of his mind.

Ardeth Bey rears his horse.

O'Connell startsto hand Ardeth Bey his shotgun.

ARDE'l'HBEY (shakes his head) No. ?!here is only one way to kill anAnubis warrior.

He whips out hisscimitar, --SHINGJ

He gallops off.

O'Connell, Evy,Jonathan and Alex suddenly hear theSOUND of HISSING pygmies,coming fast.

They all turn and haul-ass into the jungle.

Imhotep strides through the jungle, holdingAnck'shand. A group ofpygmy skeletons suddenly races up behind them. Imbotep spinsaround to face them.

The pygmyskeletona skid to a stop and stare at Imhotep, HISSING,about to pounce. Anck is terrified.And then Imhotep unhingeshis jaw,OPENS HIS MOUTH EXTRAWIDE and ROARS. The creepy littlecorpses bow their headsand back away. Imhotep grins,then grabs Anck's hand and continues on.

O'Connell, Evy, Alex and Jonathan race through the jungle. The horrific SOUND of pygmy skeletons following them fills the air. They look back and see a hugeHORDE chasing after them. Evy throws her rifle away.So does Jonathan. Everyone trying to run faster. O'Connell spots the TIPof the GOLD PYRAMID, they're closer now, maybe onlya mile away.

They race out across a huge log spanning a deep ravine.On the other side, O'Connell skids toa stop, frisks himself and pulls out a lone stick of dynamite.The pygmy skeletons start to race across the log. O'Connell lights the fuse an inch from the dynamite, then tosses it to the first skeletonand runs like hell. The pygmy skeletongrabs the dynamite. The dynamite EXPLODES. The log and the skeletonsare blown apart.

O'Connell runs up to the others, all breathinghard.

And that's when another horde of the hideous pygmy skeletons sprint out and foz:ma blockade in front of them.A LONG BEAT, and then one of the pygmy skeletons races straightat Alex, HISSING horribly, spear in hand.Alex holds up his hands to defend himself. The pygmy skeletonskids to a stop, HISSING ,-=-4 i1;fe~, hthebacksdida"!ay.Alehxldseesthih~tit. wasthehbraceleton ,_____,,, his wrist at it. He o s up s wrist to s ow al1 the pygmys. They all HISS in fear,which sounds really creepy and horril>le,then they t>ackaway andvanish into the jungle.

O'Connell, Evy and Jonathan are shockedand relieved. Alex grabs O'Connell's arm and startstugging him forward.

Jonathan waves him off, totallyexhausted.

O'Connell, Evy and Jonathan all immediately realize the implications. They quickly look offtowards the surrounding mountains. -The SON is·justabout to crest the east face.

O'Connell grabsAlex's hand and starts to run withhim.

And they' re off 1JBlasting through the jungle as fast as they can. O'Connell looks up.The SUN CRESTS THEMOUNTAINS. CUT HIGH AND WIDE: lookingdown on the jungle canopyas the SUNLIGHT startsto move across it like the tide,heading straight for the goldpyramid, getting closer and closer, about to light it up.

O'Connell and Alex run fasterand faster. Alex starts to collapse in pain.O'Connell scoops him up and runs faster, he races acrossa clearing and DIVES through one of the many arched entryways justas the SUN STRIKES the hugeGOLD pyramid, causinga blinding FLASH OF LIGHT.

O'Connell and Alex lie on the floor,exhausted andpanting.

Alex looks over and grins at him.

O'Connell wraps his am around Alex and drags him up close. Alex hugshim back~ The bracelet POPS OFF. Alex grabsit and angrily FLINGSit across the entranceway.

Evy and Jonathan stagger out of the jungle and into the clearing.Evy smiles as she sees O'Connell and Alex safe inside thepyramid. Jonathan just stares up in wonder at the huge gold monolith.And then Evy hears something and turns around. --Anck is right there. Shedriyes a dagger into Eyy's etomach.Evy doesn't even scream, just stares at Anck, incredulous.Jonathan apins around. Imhotep GRABS himby the throat, LIFTShim up and THROWS him across the clearing.

O'Connell and Alex spin aroundand look outside just as Anck withdraws -herdagger·fromEvy's stomach. Evycrumples to the ground.O'Connell jumps to his feet.

O'Connell sprints out of thepyramid, heading for Evy. Alex is right behindhim, he sees Imhotep and Anck running into another entrance.Anck blows a kiss at Alex with one hand, while holding the Book of the Dead in the other.

Evy is curled up and holding her stomach as O'Connell kneels down next toher. He gently rolls her over. Ber eyelids flutter.He rips her shirt open. His eyes widen.

Alex runs up.O'Connell quickly waves him off.

Alex freezes,looking more scared than he's ever looked.

Jonathan steps up and hugs Alex tight to his side. O'Connell stares intoEvy's weak eyes.

O'Connell looks around, out of his mind with desperation.

Evy tries to talk.O'Connell touches her lips with his fingers.

O'Connell hugs her tighter,he can feel the GrimReaper coming to takeher away, he can't think he's so desperate.

Alex starts to sob,Jonathan hugs him tighter. O'Connell chokes back the tears, caressing her face.

With her lastbit of strength, Evy gives him aweak grin.

O'Connell gentlypresses his lips to hers, and then he looks into her eyes for the lasttime, devastated.

She dies.Right there. In his arms. O'Connell hugs hertight-

A HANDgrabs the bracelet up off the floor. It's the High Priest, --all the skinon his skull abovehis eyebrows has beenremoved. He looks horrific. He stares at the bracelet maniacally.

Imhotepand Anck came down the STAIRS MADE OFSAND. At the bottom is a large goldCREST embossed with agold scorpion. Imhotepsteps onto the crest. His entire body immediately SPASMS,as if hit by an electrical shock.He CRIES OUT. Anck jumps backand watches. Imhotep's face slowly REGENERATES, until he looks strongand healthy and whole onceagain. And then it's over.Anck stares at him, thrilled.

Imhotep looks stunned,he stares at his hands in despair.

For the second time in his life,Imhotep looks vulnerable. Anck just grins like theChesire cat and carresses his face.

She holds up the BOOK OFTHE DEAD.

Evy lies dead on the ground.O'Connell takes Alex's jacket and starts to cover her face,he can't bring himself to do it. He tucks the jacket under her chinand gently smoothes it over her chest. He stands up andlooks at Alex and Jonathan.

Be gives one last sad lookdown at Evy, and then his face goes hard and he turnsand strides towards the pyramid.

The High Priest solemnlysteps up to a bas-relief of human skulls and bones embeddedinto thick gold, shaped into a large SCORPION. In each of it'sarms is a small, gold, close-quarter canbatWEAPON.

The High Priest looks at the bracelet,now on his wrist, then at a HOLE in the scorpion's mouth.He shoves his hand into the hole up tohis elbow, then turns his aJ:11\like a key. There is the SOUND OE'ALOCK BEING UNLOCKED and then a vaporous •ELEC'rRICALCHARGE"spreads out from the hole and passes over the entire room, clearing the gold walls of fungus and mold. TheHigh Priest stares in wonder.

A TORCH WIPES FRAME. It'sO'Connell, creeping down a tunnel, unarmed but for the torch.The gold walls are covered in green mold and fungus. O'Connell's eyes widen as the vaporous electrical charge comes racing down the tunnel walls.Be spins around as it passesby him. The fungus and mold on the walls are WIPED CLEAN. The gold looks brand spanking new.

The vaporous electrical charge spreads out acrossa GIANT DUNE made of BLACK SAND. As it subsides,WE PAN: to reveal a GOLDEN SAND DUNE opposite the black one.Thousands upon thousands of Medjai Warriors crest the gold dune on horses.

Ardeth Bey scans the black sand, then looks off and sees the TIP of the gold pyramid rising abovethe distant dunes.

O'Connell enters the keyroom. The High Priest is struggling to withdraw his arm, which is stuck inside.

O'Connell pulls a small ancientDOUBLE-AX out of the gold scorpion's grasp.

The bracelet gets unstuck and the High Priest starts to withdraw his am, --then suddenly hisarm is GRABBED from inside. The High Priest's ayeswiden in terror. He starts tugging on his arm, trying to wrench it free.Then he starts SCREAMING IN AGONY as the SOUND of somethingEATING HIS ARM is heard, and the CRUNCHING OFBONES and the GNASHING OF HIDEOUS TEETH.

O'Connell backs away, half ho~rified,half gratified.

The High Priest finally rips his am out, or what's left of it, --under his torn robe there's only astump. The High Priest staggers off down a tunnelSCREAMING in pain.

O'Connell backs out of the roan, double-axup.

Imhotep and Anck creep through aMAZE OF GOLD STATUARY and up to a spooky, mist shrouded GA'l'EWAY.Imhotepgrabstwo small combat weapons off a statue and turns toAnck.

Anck nods, stares at him fora beat, then sets the Book of ~, the Dead down, grabs his face and kisses him passionately.

Jonathan and Alex are kneeling next to Evy's deadbody. Alex is sobbing. Jonathan is devastated and hugginghim tight.

--Alex jerks himself away from Jonathan,eyes on fire.

~ ',~/ Alex leaps to his feet and starts pulling at Jonathan.

O'Connell walks through a strange Netherworld: weird smoke and eerie shadows play across the Stygian landscape.Water DRIPS. A distant windBOWLS. He sees Imhotep standing in front of a GIANT GONG mounted near a set ofHUGE DOORS.

O'Connell starts to jump over a CREVICE.Imhotep BANGS the gong with a -gongpolew.The entire chamber TREMBLES from the vibrations. O'Connell loses his balance and almost falls into the crevice. Be looksdown into it, --it DROPS TO ETERNITY.

Ten thousand Medjai prepare for battle along the top of the golden dune. Ardeth Bey suddenly senses something coming, like a wave at night,dark and terrifying. Be looks over to see the black dune STARTINGTO COME ALIVE with WRITHING FORMS. CUT TIGHTER: to·· see that the black sand is slowly FORMING ITSELF IN'l'OTHOUSANDSOF HIDEOUS ANUBISWARRIORS.

Jonathan and Alex carry Evy's inertbody down a tunnel.

They come to a fork in the tunnel.

Alex nods to some ancient HIEROGLYPHSabove the left doorway.

Jonathan looks at him. Alex gives hima sad little grin.

Jonathan is stunned.

Imhotep BANGS the gong, then startsto set the gongpole down. O'Connell leaps forward and SWINGING thedouble-ax at him. lmhotep quickly lifts the pole. 'l'heaxCLEAVES into it.Gets stuck in the wood. The men struggle.'l'heaxand the pole are thrown across the floor and skitter downinto the crevice. The two men square off. O'Connell looks like aman possessed.

Imhotep grins. They start to circle each other.

The Army of Anubis, two thousand hideous creatures strong, raise their spears, swordsand tridents and SHRIEK WILDLY. Without a word, ArdethBey and the ten thousand Medjai raise their scimitars. Fiercely determined.

Anck is staring through the gateway when she hearssomebody clear their throat. She turnsand looks. It's Jonathan. He puts up his dukes, English style.

Anck smirks, then sets the bookdown and strides forward. Jonathan starts to boband weave.

Alex sneaks up and grabsthe book. He looks over in time to see Anck plaster Jonathan with two frontJABS t.ohis face.

C __..) O'Connell and Imhotepviciously and relent.1esslyPUNCH,KICK, ELBOW and.BACKHAND each other.Expertly fighting hand-to-hand across the floor. Suddenly, the entirechamber TREMBLES.The two men freeze and look around.something's coming.O'Connell recovers first and throws aBOOK into Imhotep's jaw. Imhotep SLAMS up against a weapon-wielding scorpion statue.Hegrabs a small trident and ascythe. O'Connell steps over to another statue and grabs two of the same.They starts to circle.

An Anubis warrior SCREECHESa command. The Anubis warriors CHARGE FORWARD. ArdethBey YELLS a command. The Medjai GALLOP FORWARD. The Anubis Warriors race across the sand, full bore. The Medjai CRASH into the Anubiswarriors._The battle begins.

Anck wheels around with aROUNDHOUSE KICK. Knocks Jonathan back into a statue. Jonathangrabs a spear. Anck grabs an ax. She moves in for the kill.Jonathan desperately backs away.

Alex sits next to his mother, Book open,concentrating.

Anck slices Jonathan across the chest.He CRIES OUT.

O'Connell and Imhotep go at each other like gladiators. weapons in both hands. Two highly skilled warriors.The fighting is lightning quick. The cavern'l'REMBLESHARDER·. It's getting oloser.

Ardeth Bey fights like a tiger, decapitating Anubis Warriors left and right. All around himthe Medjai and the Anubis creatures are battling each other to the death.Ardeth Bey is suddenly knocked off his horse.

Alex is desperately trying to figureout the inscription.

Jonathan frantically raises his spear, trying to defend himself as Anck batters the hell out of him.

Flustered, Alex starts flapping hisarms like a bird.

Anck grabs Jonathan by the throat,slams him up against a statue and starts stranglinghim. Jonathan CHOKES--

Alex lights up.

O'Connell startsHAMMERING Imhotep, clearly getting the best of him.The whole place TREMBLES. It'sgetting~ close.

The Medjai are actually beating the Anubis Warriors, clearly getting the upper hand.

Jonathan isslammed up against a wall,stunned and choking. Anck smiles, quite pleased with herself.She raises her trident,then LUNGES FORWARD for the finalblow!

A HAND grabs her wrist, --SLAP! Stopping the blade from piercing Jonathan's throat.Anck's head whips around to see whograbbed her. --It's Eyy.She shoves Anck away. The two.women face off. Alex steps up.

Evy keeps her eyes on Anck.

Jonathan grabs Alex and starts to hustlehim away.

Anck wields her trident and stares atEvy.

Evy grabs another small trident off a statue and stares back.

Anck smiles, pleased·thatEvy knows who they both are.

They raise their weapons.

O'Connell and Imhotep CLASH and lock steel.The two men go face-to-face. Staringinto each other's angry eyes.

And that's when the huge doorsBURST OPEN. For a BEAT,there is nothing there,-andthen the SCORPION KING slowly lowers himself down from the ceiling, still partlyhidden in shadow. From the waist up, he'sexactly how we remember him; a huge, muscular, vicious warrior, butfram the waist down, --hi.!.i. a yer.ylarge SCORPION-AN EGYPTIAN MINOTAUR.

O'Connell and Imhotep stare in awe at the horrid creature, then they look at eachother, then back at the Scorpion King. The two men breakaway frcm each other and back off in opposite directions,keeping their eyes on the creature.

The last Anubis Warrior goesdown. The Medjai BURST into CHEERS. All except ArdethBey and a few Commandersstanding near him. They knowit's not over.

Evy and Anck are havingan EXACT RECAP of the fight they had three thousandyears ago. Using the small tridents, the two gorgeous women expertlyPUNCH, KICK, ELBOW and BACKHANDeach other as they brilliantly fight across the maze floor.

The Scorpion King suddenly and quite angrily scuttles up to Imhotep. Imhotep backsaway, then, thinking quick, he grabs his scal.p andBXPS the skin offthe to,pof his decrepit skull. He kneels downand slaps his hideous dry skullcap.

The Scorpion King stops and staresdown at him,then slowly ,,,---..._,nods and turnsand heads for O'Connell. Imhotep lifts his eyes, grinning evilly. He's fooledhim.

O'Connell backsup into a pillar, terrified, then slaps his own head and tries tomimic Imhotep's ancient Egyptian:

The ScorpionKing LASHES down at him with one of his big skeletal pincers.O'Connell DIVES out of the way just as the pincers SHEARthrough the pillar. O'Connell runs like hell. TheHigh Priest suddenly stumbles into his path, holding hisstump and whimpering. O'Connell grabs aHELMET off a statue,SLAPS it onto the High Priest's head, then turns him aroundand kicks him in the ass, sendinghim towards the ScorpionKing. The High Priest looks up in stunned amazementas the Scorpion King sto%1DSup tohim. The High Priest suddenly recoversand YELLS:

He pats his head, --butthe helmet is coygrin;his skull. His eyes widen in panic.He quickly tries to get the helmet off, but it's stuck tight to his head.The ScorpionKing's pincers GRAB the High Priest around the waist and lift him up.The . High PriestSCREAMS in terror. The pincers CUTHIM IN HALF.

The remaining Medjaiare still CHEERING when a strangeSOUND stops them cold.Ardeth Bey quickly turns to the dune behind them, clambersup it and looks over the other side.Spread out across the plainin front of him are FIFTYTHOUSAND ANUBIS WARRIORS.The Medjai are vastly outnumbered.

Anck is viciouslythrown to the floor. Evy lunges forward, stopping her knifea quarter inch before it plunges into Anck's neck.Evy's eyes are on fire, she wants to do it badly.Anck forces herself to smile.

And that's when they hear the ScorpionKing BELLOW IN FURY. Evy is distracted. Anck knocks the trident awayand takes off running. Evy hauls tail after her.

O'Connell is SLAMMED up against a wall next to a LIFE SIZED CARTOUCHE OF A MAN. O'Connell shakes off thecobwebs in his head, then notices the cartouche.It's actually holding the SCEPTER OF OSIRIS. And then O'Connell's eyes get really big.

WE GO TIGHT ON THE TATTOO on O'Connell'sarm; then PAN OVER to the cartouche's am, it has the exact sameMASONIC TEMPLAR TATTOO! The Scorpion King's tail suddenly PULVERIZES the ca.rtouche,missing O'Connell's headby an inch. O'Connell leaps away. Dives and rolls.Paps up on his feet.

O'Connell ducks as the Scorpion King's tail whips over his head and takes out another pillar.He takes off running.

Jonathan and Alex race into the cavern and skid to a stop, they go wide-eyed as they see the Scorpion KingCRASHING through the landscape chasing O'Connell.O'Connell sees them.

Alex quickly grabs'the Scepter away fromJonathan.

From across the cavern,·Imhotep sees the Scepter.

The massive horde of Anubis WarriorsSHRIEK WILDLYand then start to stampedeacross the plain, heading right for the remaining Medjai. It's going to be a veryquick slaughter.

The Medjai lookshocked and defeated.

And then Ardath Bey grits his teeth,clenches his swordand yells out a BATTLECRY. The other Medjai look at him.A true warrior to the bitter end.This gives them courage.They all clench their swords and join in hisBATTLE CRY.

The Scorpion King's pincers and stingersSLASH andTEAR their way through the pillars and walls, trying to kill O'Connell. Jonathan and Alexare deciphering the hieratic on the scepter and futzing with the various indentations on the head of it.

Imhotep CHARGESacross the cavern, heading for Alex and Jonathan.Anck and Evy race in. They both skidto a stop as they see the Scorpion King's pincerSWAT O'Connell.

O'Connell SPIRALSthrough the air, SLAMS into a.walland lands on hisass, spread-eagled. Be sees Evy. His face twists, half smiling, half crying.

--The Scorpion King's stingerSLAMS down between his legs, SMASHING a hole in the floor.O'Connell leaps to his feetand graJ:>shis trident off the floor,suddenly full of life.

He whips the trident at the Scorpion King, --but it just bounces harmlesslyoff his shell. Imhotep is twenty feet away from Alex andJonathan and closing quickly.

Jonathan twists the bottom of the Scepter, it SLIDESOPEN, ~ \, revealing a SHARPTIP. Alex grabs it and TELESCOPES it out another four feet,--now it looks just like a spear.Jonathan sees Imhotepcoming. He snatches the spear away from Alex.

He quickly aims it at the Scorpion King.Imhotep is almost on top of him.Jonathan THROWS IT. Imhotep SCREAMS:

The ScorpionKing spins around and BATS THE SPEARAWAY with his stinger. It SPINS offthrough the air.

The Anubis Warriors race fullbore at the Medjai.SHRIEKING WILDLY.A hundred yards away. Now eighty yards.Now sixty. Fifty. Forty. ArdethBey is to die.

The spear SPINS across theroom like a propeller.O'Connell leaps up andgrabs it out of the air. Hits the groundrunning and heaves the spear back atthe Scorpion King.It NAILS him right in the chest.With a terrifying SCREAMof pain and rage,the Scozpion King staggers back. Imhotepcan't believe it,he runs towards the Scorpion King HOWLING in rage.

TheScorpion King looks at O'Connell and BELLOWShorribly. O'Connell fights hispain, grits his teeth and stares back.

TheScorpion King EXPLODES into,BLACK VAPOR. TotalBLACK OUT.

TheMedjai are three feet away from being stampededby the hugemass of Anubis Warriors when all of a sudden the they EXPLODE INTOBLACK SAND and dissipate across the Medjai.

I THICK BLACK VAPOR EXPLODESout of all the arches around / the pyramid and··thenMUSHROOMSup into the sky like a thermonuclear blast.The giant mushroom cloud takes the form of the SCORPIONKING'S FACE SCREAMING IN RAGE.

Ardath Bey and the Medjaiwatch as the horrific cloud quickly reaches it's apex. The Scorpion King'sCLOUD FACE gives one last BELLOW, and then the whole thingIMPLODES IN ON ITSELF. Actually being sucked back into the pyramid.

The whole place startsSHAKING LIKE MAO. The crevice SPLITS WIDER. O'Connell and Imhotepare knocked into it crevice. Evy lunges forward.

But she's forced backby all the RAZOR SHARP STALACTITESthat start DROPPING LIKEMISSILES fram the ceiling.

INSIDE THE CREVICE:O'Connell and Imhotep cling to the

V With the last of their strength they both manage toclimbup to the edge of the crevice.But they're both starting to lose strength. They can't hold on much longer.

Evy is desperate to dashto her husband and help him, but the stalactites keep falling.O'Connell sees the look in her eyes.

Imhotep desperately clawsat the ledge. He sees Anck.

Anck stares at Imhotep.Evy stares at O'Connell. A minefield of deadly falling stalactites between them.Eyy goes for it. Running like mad for theman she loves. Anck turns and runs off down a tunnel. Imhotepcan't believe his eyes.

Anck vanishes down the tunnel. Imhotep looks likehis whole world has just collapsed. / /

He looks over and sees Evy dive up to the edge of the crevice andgrab O'Connell's arm. Evy helpsyank O'Connell up and over the lip of the crevice to rel.ative safety.

O'Connell and Evy look at Imhotep,who is totally devastated. He stares at them, A LONG BEAT, and almost smiles.Then he let's go of the crevice wall and FALLSFORETERNITY-

Anck dashes into the keyroom justas the far wall COLLAPSES, blocking her path, she sees that she's standing at the edge of a moat FILLED WITH WRIGGLINGSCORPIONS. Her eyes widen in horror. She turns and starts to run back the way shecame.

The room VIOLEN'I'LYSHAKES.Anck loses her balance.Her arms flail wildly as she teeters on the edge of the scorpion filled moat, she has just long enough torealize the ramifications if she falls in, --and then she falls in.

Anck SCREAMS and FLAILS wildly as the mass of scorpions envelop and STING her. She sinks into the mass of wriggling scorpions and, still SCREAMING,vanishes under them.

Inside the entranceway, BLACKVAPOR AND MASSIVE FOLIAGE are being SUCKED through every archway and down into a huge hole in the middle of the chamber.

Our heroes climb up out of a smallhole in the floor, a solid gold arch behind them blocks them fromgetting nailed by the flying debris. They have to SCREAMabove the HOWLING WIND.

O'Connell spots some stairs inside the arch.

They all race into the arch and up the stairs.

/ O'Connell, Alex, Evy,and Jonathan crawl out of a crack in the side of the gold pyramid,about midway to the top.Their mouths drop open as they look outand see:

THE ENTIRE OASIS IS BEINGSUCKED INTO THE PYRAMID:palm trees, bushes, shrubs,massive quantities of dirt and debris, as well as ancient corpses and HISSING pygmy skeletons. The pyramid itself begins toSHAKE VIOLENTLY.

O'Connell quickly looks around and then instinctively starts running up the steps of thepyramid.

They all race to the top and look out:A MASSIVEWAVE OF FOLIAGE is heading right for them,completely encircling them, they're trapped.

O'Connell wraps oneam around Evy, the other around Alex. There is no way out.And then they hear a VOICE:

They all turn around, --theblimp is rising gp behind them. Izzy at the wheel.

O'Connell hoists Alex andEvy up into the trawler and then jumps after them. Izzy pulls a lever,SHOOTING FLAME out of the bellow and up into a hole in theblimp. The blimp starts to rise quickly.And that's when Jonathan jumps. He slams into the side of theboat, loses his grip and falls, --but his feet get tangled insome fishing net along the side of the boat and now he's hanging upsidedown.

TheDIAMOND TIP of the pyramid GLINTS in Jonathan's eyes. He quickly reaches over andgrabs it just as the wholedamn pyramidis SUCKED DOWN INTO THE EARTH.

COTWIDE: The blimp rises up just as the massive wave of foliageCRASHES DOWN, a near miss. With one last mightyROAR, allthe foliage is SUCKED INTO THE EARTH, --WHUMP!!

And then theoasis is gone. Completely obliterated. Everythinggoes dead quiet. The blimp rises abovea valley of dusty,sandy desert that was once the Oasis ofAhm Shere.

Jonathan crashes to the floor of the boat,clinging to the bigchunk of polished.diamond that was once the tip of the pyramid,he hugs it tightly, grinning tohimself.

Evyand Alex run up and hug Izzy and thankhim profusely. Izzyis both pleased and embarrassed by a.llthe attention. Thenhe sees O'Connell slumped up against the wall of the trawler,wincing and looking really beat-to-shit.

Izzy smiles. O'Connell smiles back, then he looks out and sees the Medjai battlefield below. A lone rider stands out. O'Connell steps up to the railing. Evy,Alex and Jonathan come up and flank him. They all lookdown.

Ardeth Bey sits on a horse. He smiles up at his friends in the sky. And then with an open palm he touches his heart and waves it towards the sun.

O'Connell salutes him. Evy waves. Then O'Connell looks at Evy.

She giveshim a mischievous grin.

O'Connell just stares at her.

He wraps his arms around her and they KISS. Jonathan and Alex roll their eyes in disgust.

Izzy grins, turns the wheel and throttles up. The blimp sails off into the SUNSET.
