A man's surehands grip the controls of the immensemachine, guiding itwith a practiced ease.
We recognizethe voice immediately.

Both men workquickly, shutting down the shipsmain operating power. As thecockpit grows quiet and dark,Link softly sighs with relief.

We are rushing at incredible speed,skipping over a choppy sea of clouds like an adrenalineinjected hydro-foil.
We emerge from a slate grey cloudbank into the open charcoal moonlit sky as Neo rockets overus. A wake of light-bending heat trails behind him, hiscoat whipping like a strobic Rorschach test.
He races forward at a staggeringvelocity, ripping through the air, then banking--
Dropping down through thewet blanket of low-hanging nimbostratus clouds, revealingthe vast grid of the city, laid out like an enormous electricfisherman's net.

Then, growing downward,a geometric tangle of pipes andpower lines, it thins atthe middle before widening again at the base so that it feelslike some huge wire-frame sculpture mimicking a stalactitegrowing into its own stalagmite.
Spreading out from thecore which includes a thick bundle of industrial elevators,is a complex lattice of suspended catwalks and bridgesthat run to and from the core and around the curved edges ofthe towering cave.
Along each level ofthe grated walkways, carved into the rock like ancient cave dwellingsare the homes of the people of Zion.
Link smiles.

Lock looks ready to leapover his desk when the door opens. An old man enters whosegentle smile and twinkling eyes belie his warrior heart.

As Neo and Trinity edge outof the elevator, several come forward offering gifts of homemadelinens, food, seeds, and small bits of technology.
An old woman offers a redblanket.

Shesteps back into the elevator.
Distractedby the group, he looks backbut the doors have closedand she is gone.
Themetal door bangs open and Link stompsinside.
Two women sittingat a small tableturn towards him. The olderwoman smiles, the younger oneblushes.
A littleboy and girl rush at Linkwho scoops them up.
He sets themdown and they each latch onto a leg.
Amazingly, Linkbegins to rise off the ground.
Link is holdinghimself up with an overhead pipe.
She kisses him.
The door closes.Link smiles, sidling up to her.
Sheturns away from him, knowing thatshe is not saying what shewants to say.
She grabshold of him, not wanting to hear anymore.
It is quiet,no people are visible. Footsteps canbe heard of someoneracing across one of the metal catwalksnear the base of thetower.
Beneathus is a row of shoes and sandals of varyingsize and shape.We glide along the row as the awkward running overtakesus, pulling us as we reveal hundredsof shoes laid in rows,creating a small path on the otherwiseextra wide catwalkthat leads into the mouth of anothercave.
The kidbarrels towards the cave, trying to removehis boots without slowingdown.
The Templeis a series of naturally-formed chamberslinked like organsof the body all leading to a vastcavern.
The entranceis one of the smaller but more elaborate chamberswith its heavy limesto11ed.La~c.1..._;_co::;:ripplingthe walls.
The kiddrops his boots as a procession ofpriestesses pass, bearingbaskets filled with bread and mushrooms.

A night sky filled with stars thatwe drift back from, revealing--
A familiar bank of monitors each screenfilled with the same image of starlit space.
We hear the click-clack of a keyboardand the monitors change to the image of Neo standing in a roomfilled with monitors andas we pan--
We findNeo standing in the same sphericalroom of monitors, eachshowing the exact image we are lookingat.
An older man in a well-tailored suitsits in a high-backed leatherswivel chair.
Trinity hits the elevatorbutton. The numbers climb towards her.

The elevator opens and Trinityis attacked by Agent Jackson as we saw in the opening,managing to barely escape with her life.
