"FLOW" (2024)

A CAT looks at his reflection in a puddle.

The water begins to vibrate, and the reflection becomes unclear. Cat starts to feel alarmed.

He looks up and sees a DEER running towards him. It leaps through the puddle splashing Cat with the muddy water.

Cat grumpily shakes off the water and sees the deer disappearing into forest.

He looks back and sees a group of DOGS. They’re running after the deer, barking angrily.

Cat quickly hides behind a bush and the dogs don't notice him.

When they are gone, he cautiously emerges.

Cat walks uphill towards a quaint wooden cabin.

Behind it, up on top of a hill, there is a large stone statue - a human figure sitting cross-legged with one arm raised.

He climbs up a wooden beam and enters the cabin through a round, stained-glass window. Fade to black.

...A MASSIVE WAVE rolls round and round in a hypnotic, spiraling motion…

TITLE CARD - FLOW

Cat walks downhill towards a river, passing by a small boat stuck on top of a tree. It seems to have been there for a long time.

Cat sits down at the edge of a river to take a sip of water.

He notices the dogs upstream, jumping and splashing in the shallow water, trying to catch a fish.

The dogs lunge at a fish all at the same time. They push each other, eager to get to it first. Retriever manages to grab it in her mouth.

The other dogs approach her and try to grab it from her. Retriever backs up. The dogs growl and step closer. They jump on Retriever. A fight breaks out.

The fish falls back into the water and quickly swims away.

Cat watches from afar how the dogs gnaw at each other, overtaken by raw fury. It seems so stupid and irrational to him. In the chaos, they’ve forgotten about the fish.

Cat sees the fish getting closer to him. He waits for the right moment and leaps after it.

Cat confidently pulls the fish out of the water.

The dogs notice Cat and stop fighting.

They stare at each other for a moment.

Cat runs away.

The dogs chase after him.

Cat nimbly crosses the river, jumping from rock to rock.

The dogs charge directly into the water, stumbling awkwardly.

Cat leaps over a large fallen log.

The dogs try to squeeze under it but get stuck.

Cat turns around to taunt them before disappearing into the woods.

The dogs bark furiously.

They manage to climb out from under the log and search for Cat but can't find him anymore.

Cat looks down at them from atop a hill.

When they're gone, he proceeds to eat the fish.

Silence.

A gust of wind.

Suddenly, a deer runs past him.

Then another one. Cat looks around, confused.

A herd of deer is running towards him!

There must be hundreds of them. They seem to be running away from something. Cat tries to escape from the crowd and not get stepped on.

Finally, they’re gone.

Cat looks around and sees what they are trying to escape from.

A MASSIVE WAVE!

It's rising over the trees, rapidly approaching, swallowing everything in its path.

Cat trembles in fear.

The wave grows bigger and bigger.

Cat runs away.

He sees the dogs overtaken by the wave.

Cat desperately runs uphill, but it’s too late.

The wave crashes upon him.

Darkness.

Chaos.

For a moment Cat emerges and inhales.

He looks around horrified and confused searching for something to grab onto.

The rapids pull him down again.

Everything’s a blur…

He emerges and takes a deep breath.

...Trees...

...Rapids...

...Underwater...

...Sun...

Cat sees a tree trunk and digs his claws into it.

He desperately climbs up the tree and looks for a way out of the water.

Four of the dogs have managed to get out to the opposite shore, but Retriever is still in the rapids.

She calls for the dogs, but they don’t dare to step back into the raging water. Cat looks at the poor Retriever and calls for her.

Retriever notices him and tries to grab onto the branch that he's sitting on.

The branch snaps! Cat falls back into the water.

They both are pulled into the rapids. Cat struggles to stay afloat.

There’s a fallen log ahead.

They grab onto it and are able to climb out to the shore.

Cat coughs up water.

Retriever is confused - the dogs are on the opposite shore, and she isn’t sure what to do now. She looks around - Cat is gone.

Retriever notices his paw prints in the sand.

She follows them.

Cat walks uphill in the forest.

Retriever follows him.

Cat stops.

Retriever stops too.

Retriever tries to repeat every move that he makes.

Cat, visibly annoyed, hisses at her to leave him alone and runs away.

While looking back at her, Cat stumbles into something and falls down.

He looks up and sees a pair of very long legs.

Towering over the tiny Cat, is a large white BIRD.

Cat gulps

Bird leans down towards him, squinting aggressively.

Cat steps back.

Retriever jumps next to Cat barking at Bird!

Bird, who's much bigger than the dog, is surprised by her audacity. He's not sure how to react.

While he's distracted, Cat uses his chance to escape. Retriever backs away while still barking. Bird looks at her perplexed.

Cat keeps going uphill. Retriever catches up on him.

The path ahead splits in two directions. Retriever's not sure where to go. She waits for Cat to get ahead and then follows him.

It starts to rain. Cat picks up his pace.

Cat walks around a series of puddles, careful not to step into the water. Retriever walks right through them.

They're back at the cabin. Cat climbs in through the window. Retriever waits for him outside, sitting on the porch.

It's nice and dry inside. Cat shakes off the water and settles into his cozy spot. Finally - peace and quiet.

Cat closes his eyes and falls asleep...

Bark!

Cat wakes up and looks outside. Retriever is still waiting for him on the front porch. He grunts to himself.

Cat looks further at the forest and realizes that the water has risen.

It's almost reached the cabin!

Cat climbs out onto the porch roof. He sees water in every direction.

The trees down below are submerged.

Cat looks up and sees Bird flying away from the island.

He starts to panic, walking nervously in circles. He sees that Retriever is doing the same. Cat stops, Retriever stops too. Cat looks back at her, frustrated.

Bark!

A small boat is approaching. Retriever calls it excitedly.

Cat is relieved. He starts climbing down towards it.

It’s the boat that was stuck in the tree.

Cat stops.

Inside the boat are the four dogs.

Cat quickly hides back inside the cabin before they see him. The boat arrives at the porch and Retriever jumps in.

She calls Cat to join them. He stays in the cabin. Retriever calls him again, but Cat will not go near the dogs.

The boat floats away.

Cat’s left alone.

The water has reached the cabin and is pouring inside.

Cat leaves his home and climbs up the large statue.

Cat sits on the statue's raised hand.

Time passes.

Water rises.

He is afraid.

The ocean has reached the statue.

It creeps up, swallowing its head.

Only the raised hand remains above water.

The sun is about to dip below the horizon.

Cat is desperate. It seems like the end is near. He closes his eyes and listens to the ocean.

A deep rumble.

Cat opens his eyes and looks down. Something HUGE swims under him.

It’s a WHALE!

It appears to be even bigger than the statue.

Cat climbs up on the statue’s index finger to be as far away from it as possible.

The Whale lets out another low voice. For some reason, Cat finds this very peaceful and is not afraid anymore.

Cat turns around and sees something approaching.

It’s another boat! This, unlike the last one, has a big sail.

Cat excitedly puts a paw in the water. He looks down - Whale is gone.

As the boat approaches, Cat notices a strange animal in the boat. It's a CAPYBARA - a large, chubby, mild- mannered rodent.

Cat quickly pulls his paw out of the water. Capybara calls him again. He sits at the back of the boat next to its rudder and presses himself against it.

The boat begins to turn towards Cat. Capybara extends his paw and calls him. Cat could even reach it, but he hesitates.

The boat is now right next to Cat. From up close, he sees how huge Capybara really is.

Just before the boat passes him, Cat grabs onto it and climbs aboard.

In front of the boat, there is a small shelter. Inside there's a petroleum lantern and a mirror in a wooden frame.

Cat turns around and sees Capybara sitting by the rudder. He clumsily climbs down to the deck and approaches Cat welcoming him.

Cat doesn’t dare to move.

Capybara seems to be totally at ease and not concerned at all that the whole world is flooded.

He tries to sniff him, but Cat jumps back. Cat extends his claws and hisses at him defensively. Capybara looks at him calmly.

Cat steps back even further until he’s cornered. Capybara walks past him and lies down under the shelter.

Cat is rolled up in a ball at the rear end of the boat. He nervously looks at Capybara who’s sound asleep in the shelter, snoring loudly.

The boat sways in the ocean and Cat is feeling seasick. He looks up at the stars.

For a moment, a strange multicolored light appears beyond the clouds. Cat observes it perplexed.

The light fades away.

It starts to rain. Capybara wakes up and sees Cat outside in the rain. He calls him to come to the shelter, but Cat stubbornly stays in place.

The rain intensifies. Cat is now completely drenched, frightened and shivering.

He very cautiously starts approaching the shelter, never taking his eyes off Capybara.

Cat comes inside and shakes off the water. He lies down as far away as possible from Capybara. He closes his eyes, and the sound of rain fades away as he falls asleep...

A droplet of water falls on Cat’s forehead. He opens his eyes and lunges upright, confusedly looking around.

It’s a calm and sunny morning.

He sees Capybara, who’s still asleep, snoring loudly. Cat frowns, smelling something very unpleasant.

He looks at Capybara - the smell is coming from him. There’s a swarm of flies circling him. Cat steps away from Capybara and sniffs himself to make sure that he does not smell as bad.

The boat floats past submerged trees.

A puddle of rainwater has formed in the middle of the deck after the rain. Cat goes to drink from it.

A loud thud!

Cat quickly runs back to the shelter and hides behind Capybara.

Someone else is in the boat. It's moving on top of the shelter.

Cat doesn't dare to move.

Capybara snores loudly.

The new passenger stops moving.

Silence.

Cat sees a head slowly leaning over the edge of the shelter.

It's a LEMUR.

Cat is surprised. He relaxes a bit - at least it's not a threat.

Lemur looks at him and Capybara inquisitively.

Cat frowns. Lemur pulls himself back up.

Cat exits the shelter. Lemur is sorting through the various objects on top of the shelter. He finds a metal spoon and admires how it glimmers in the sunlight.

Before Cat can react, Lemur grabs the spoon and jumps onto a tree.

Cat murmurs to himself grumpily as Lemur jumps further away, from one tree to another.

Cat looks up and sees Bird flying over the boat.

Cat climbs on the ledge. The boat is passing a series of stone pillars.

Bird glides just above water, fluidly and gracefully, with his majestic wings spread wide. He snaps his feet into the water and effortlessly pulls out a fish.

Cat observes this truly amazed.

Bird lands on top one of the pillars. Cat notices a whole flock of birds sitting there. One of them is bigger than others. It's the LEADER of the flock.

Bird approaches the smaller birds who're still too young to hunt for themselves. He gives them the fish which they quickly devour.

Cat looks down - near the boat, there are countless fish. He stares at them and feels his stomach growling.

The world around him fades away. There’s only him and the fish. Cat extends his paw towards them.

Something big lands on the boat behind Cat. He quickly turns around - it's the Leader of the flock!

Cat is so shocked that he stumbles and falls down into the water.

He’s confused and terrified but manages to dig his claws into the boat. He desperately tries to hold on to it and get out of the water as soon as possible.

Cat climbs up the side of the boat and very carefully looks over the wall.

Leader steps closer to Cat who quickly ducks down behind the wall.

Capybara, who's still sound asleep, lets out a loud snore. Leader notices him. He raises his feathers and screeches at him, but even that doesn't wake him up.

Cat’s too afraid to climb back inside. He looks down again at the group of fish who’re still nearby. Cat waits for one to get closer.

Cat lets go of the boat and jumps after it.

Cat emerges from the water and nervously searches for it

The fish quickly scuttles away.

He finds the fish and attempts to catch it barely managing to stay afloat. His movement is so loud and tense that the fish notice him immediately and swims away.

But Cat's determined to catch it. Just as he's almost reached the fish, something big snaps it up in the air!

Cat looks around and sees Leader flying away with the fish.

The flock laughs at Cat, except for Bird.

Leader gives the fish to the small birds.

Cat feels pathetic and stops swimming.

He clumsily turns around and to his horror realizes that the boat has floated far away.

Cat swears at himself for being so reckless and desperately tries to catch it.

He swims as fast as he can, but the boat is too far.

The flock looks down upon Cat from the pillars.

Cat starts to feel that he doesn’t have much strength left. He tries to call Capybara, but just ends swallowing water.

He’s disoriented and struggling to stay above water.

His body is so weak...

Cat starts to sink down.

The world turns dark.

Barely conscious, he sees jellyfish, octopuses, crabs and other strange creatures.

He’s sinking deeper and deeper.

Past huge buildings overgrown with seaweed.

A large, dark shape moves towards him. It slides beneath him. Cat feels it rising and pushing him towards the light.

It’s getting closer… The light is unbearably bright...

He’s lifted above water.

Cat coughs out water and tries to stand up. It’s so bright.

Still confused, he looks around. What’s he standing on?

It’s the WHALE!

Cat gasps in shock. The whale lets out a deep, rumbling noise.

It echoes.

Something grabs Cat!

Cat looks up and sees Bird! He’s holding him with his feet. They’re flying up towards the sky.

They rise above the trees and Cat is nearly blinded by the sun.

The wind is so strong, that Cat is dried off quickly. He opens his eyes again and sees white clouds.

Cat notices something enormous far away. It’s a group of COLOSSAL TOWERS.

They’re endlessly tall, stretching up past the clouds. Cat looks at them dumbfounded and for a moment forgets where he is. Bird keeps flying higher and higher.

Cat finally snaps out of the trance and starts to panic. He kicks and shuffles, trying to escape from Bird’s claws.

Bird screeches at him to stop, but Cat keeps kicking and screaming. Bird can’t hold him any longer.

Cat slips out of Bird’s claws and falls down. The ocean is rushing towards him.

Luckily the boat is right beneath him.

Cat stumbles into the sail which bounces him back up again.

Cat instinctively spins around and lands on the deck, feet first.

Still in panic mode, he hurries to the shelter and hides behind Capybara.

Cat breathes nervously and looks upwards. Where is Bird?

There’s a cat-shaped imprint left in the sail.

He looks down again and nearly falls off his feet in surprise - Bird is standing right in front of him, staring into his eyes.

Cat gulps.

Bird stands majestically tall. He looks at him inquisitively.

Cat feels his heart pounding.

They keep staring at each other.

Finally, Bird looks up and flies away.

Cat sits down at the front of the boat and sees the colossal towers. He feels strangely compelled by them.

The boat changes direction and turns away from the towers.

Cat looks back and sees Capybara who's finally awake, pressing himself against the rudder, steering the boat towards a submerged round shaped building. It’s been long abandoned and is overgrown with vines.

Cat notices a Lemur on the roof, calling for help. It's the thief who stole the spoon.

Capybara is determined to rescue him, but Cat is not happy about this. He meows loudly in protest and tries to take over the control of the rudder, but Capybara won’t allow it.

The boat scrapes against the building and halts.

On the roof there are all kinds of shiny objects - bracelets, bottles, jewelry etc. Apparently, Lemur has been collecting them.

Water continues to rise and will soon envelop the building. Lemur frantically tries to pick up as many of his things as possible and places them into the boat.

Capybara calls Lemur to leave them and come to the boat, but he doesn’t listen to him.

Cat grunts - now there’s even less space on the deck.

Capybara climbs out onto the roof and approaches Lemur.

Lemur feverishly places his things into a large woven basket. Capybara grabs him by his tail and tries to pull him to the boat.

Lemur screeches and resists.

Capybara decides to help Lemur with the packing. He picks up a bottle in his mouth and puts it into the basket. Lemur notices this, runs up to the basket and pedantically readjusts its placement.

Meanwhile, Capybara brings him another object. Lemur pulls it out of his mouth and murmurs to himself.

Capybara grabs Lemur’s basket and drags it to the boat.

Lemur sighs and helps Capybara to push the basket into the boat. They climb aboard as the boat departs from the building.

Lemur looks back mournfully as his home slowly disappears.

He slumps down on the deck looking absolutely hopeless.

Capybara takes the mirror from the shelter and brings it to Lemur to cheer him up.

Lemur glances at the mirror as it sparkles in the sun. His tail perks up, and he brings himself closer to it and inspects it.

He carefully places the mirror inside his basket and notices Cat glaring at him from atop the shelter.

Cat coughs up a hairball and turns away. Lemur steps back slightly spooked.

Capybara sits by the rudder and maneuvers the boat so as not to hit the trees.

There are some banana plants, bearing fruits, but they seem to be rotten. Nevertheless, as the boat passes by the bananas Capybara grabs a cluster of them.

Meanwhile Lemur has taken over the shelter and filled it with his junk. Cat pushes some of it out to free up space.

Lemur notices this and carefully rearranges them, grunting to himself.

Capybara sits down next to Cat and eats the rotten bananas. He offers a piece to Cat. It smells horribly and there are flies on it.

Cat turns away disgusted.

Capybara proceeds to eat it himself.

Cat scratches his claws against the wall of the boat, glaring at Capybara and Lemur.

Cat sits on the ledge of the boat and notices Bird standing nobly on top of the mast.

Cat tries to stand up straight just like him. Lifting his front paws off the narrow ledge just like Bird.

He glances up and sees that Bird is watching him amused.

Cat immediately gets embarrassed and stumbles into the water. As he climbs up back into the boat, Bird is nowhere to be seen.

After finishing the rotten bananas, Capybara tries to stand up, but he’s feeling very dizzy.

He lumbers down onto the deck, accidentally brushing against Lemur’s basket. It falls over and its contents roll out all over the deck.

Lemur is outraged. He tries to catch them and put them back into the basket.

Capybara snores loudly.

Cat tries to sleep, but Lemur is restless, sorting through his collection. His long tail sways back and forth.

A fly lands on Cat’s forehead. He swings his paw, trying to catch it, but the fly escapes.

Cat climbs up the boat’s mast to be alone.

From up here the towers are visible again.

He closes his eyes and falls asleep...

A MASSIVE WAVE! It rolls round and round in a hypnotic, spiraling motion swallowing everything in its path.

Dark clouds fill up the sky... Hundreds of deer trying to escape from the wave...

They’re running towards the huge towers...

It’s too late.

The wave crashes upon them…. Everything is underwater - except the towers.

Cat jolts up, nearly falling off the mast!

He notices that the boat is veering away from the towers towards a windmill on top of a small island.

Capybara is sound asleep, and Lemur is preoccupied by looking at himself in the mirror and making faces.

Cat realizes that the boat is soon going to crash onto the shore and calls Lemur and Capybara to turn the boat back towards the towers, but he ignores him.

Cat climbs down the mast and runs towards the rudder, leaping over Capybara, who isn’t disturbed by this and continues sleeping.

The wind grows stronger, making it difficult to control the boat. Cat tries to push the rudder, but it's too late.

The boat grounds to halt as it hits the shore. Finally, Capybara wakes up and looks around confused.

The island is densely covered in bright yellow dandelions.

Cat tries to push the rudder, but the boat is stuck.

Capybara climbs out of the boat into the shallow water and proceeds to eat the flowers.

Lemur notices a small glass buoy washed up on the shore. He jumps out of the boat and picks it up gently.

Lemur inspects the buoy admiringly.

Cat turns back and sees Bird standing right in front of him, holding a fish in his mouth.

Bird places the fish down on the ground and pushes it towards him. Cat stares at it but is afraid to take it.

He's very hungry.

Bird nods at him approvingly and steps back.

Cat cautiously climbs out of the boat and moves towards the fish.

As he starts to eat it, suddenly Leader lands right next to them.

Cat quickly runs back and hides behind Capybara.

Leader sees Cat with the fish in his mouth and gets angry at Bird for wasting food.

Bird averts his gaze from Leader.

Leader walks away. Bird follows him

Cat swallows the fish and looks down at his paws in the shallow water.

He's surprised that the water is actually quite pleasant.

It ripples gently around him. It's not the dark green and brown muck that he knows, but rather a warm, translucent, teal color.

Capybara looks at Cat’s confusion and nods approvingly.

A group of small colorful fish swim past him. Cat wades after them, but the shallow water makes it difficult to move. With every step he makes a loud noise alarming the fish.

Just as he's finally about to catch one of the fish -

Retriever jumps in front of him!

She playfully splashes him with water.

The fish scuttles away and Cat grumpily shakes off the water and hisses at her.

Cat is confused. Why is she here? Where are the other dogs?

Retriever steps towards him happily.

Cat hisses at her.

Retriever notices Lemur further away inspecting the buoy and clumsily approaches him.

Cat sees the two birds walking over a hill.

Cat cautiously follows them, climbing up on the hill, hiding in the flowers.

The whole flock is there. The younger birds are playing. Leader is looking over them.

Lemur shrieks!

Cat turns around and sees that he and Retriever are fighting over the buoy.

Retriever has grabbed it in her mouth and Lemur is trying to pull it back, but he’s much smaller than her.

She gleefully runs around, wagging her tail as if it’s some kind of a game.

Lemur certainly doesn’t think so.

He’s desperate to get the buoy back. Retriever runs up the hill and Lemur lunges after her.

They both roll downhill, still stubbornly holding on to the buoy.

They crash into Cat, and he’s pulled downhill with them.

Cat, Retriever and Lemur stumble into the group of smaller birds, who are thrown off their feet.

Dandelion fluff floats through the air.

Lemur screams and jumps on top of Retriever.

Leader turns around and sees Cat, Retriever and Lemur fighting dangerously close to the small birds.

Retriever growls at Lemur, but he still doesn’t let go.

Leader approaches them. He spreads out his expansive wings aggressively.

Retriever and Lemur finally stop fighting.

They try to escape, but they can’t get back up the steep hill.

Cat sees the Leader coming closer. He’s about to attack.

Suddenly Bird jumps in between them and tries to fend Leader away.

Leader stops for a moment in confusion, but then lunges at Bird. They kick and bite each other.

The flock gathers around.

Bird tries to defend himself, but Leader is bigger and stronger than he is. Leader bites into his wing and Bird screams in pain.

He stumbles off his feet and Leader puts one of his massive legs over Bird’s head. He presses it down into dirt.

Cat feels sorry for Bird, but there’s nothing he can do.

Leader finally releases Bird and calls the rest of the flock to fly away with him.

Bird tries to follow them but is unable to fly with the injured wing.

Capybara sits down next to Bird trying to soothe him. Bird moves away. Capybara tries to get closer, but Bird shrieks at him and stands up.

Retriever slowly and carefully approaches Bird and places the buoy by his feet. Bird looks down at it and kicks it away.

Retriever immediately runs after it; brings it back and again places it next Bird’s feet. Bird glares down at Retriever.

Meanwhile Lemur quickly grabs the buoy and runs away with it.

Cat feels nothing but contempt for Retriever.

Bird looks at the colossal towers in the distance. Cat looks at him concerned. He walks to the boat slightly limping and pushes the boat back into the water. It moves!

Capybara and Lemur climb into the boat. Capybara calls Retriever to join them. As Retriever about to climb aboard, Bird in front of her screeches.

Retriever stops.

Cat looks at Bird, stands next to him and hisses at Retriever too. His hiss turns into a cough, and he looks kind of pathetic next to Bird.

Retriever is confused.

Capybara steps between them, making way for Retriever. Bird scowls at Capybara.

He stares back at Bird.

Cat thinks that Bird might actually attack Capybara. They continue staring at each other for what seems like an eternity.

The boat starts to move away from the shore.

Capybara’s eyes are defiant, but not threatening. They make it seem like he’s much bigger than he actually is.

Finally, Bird gives up. He averts his eyes and sits down next to the rudder. Retriever climbs aboard.

The boat floats away from the island as the sun sets behind it. Bird looks back mournfully and steers the boat towards the towers.

The Moon and the stars are reflected in a crystal- clear ocean.

Capybara, Lemur and Retriever are sound asleep, curled up close together in the small shelter.

With the new guests and all of Lemur’s stuff, there’s no more space in it for Cat.

He looks back at the rudder - Bird is awake too, looking up at the stars. Cat slowly walks next to him and lies down.

The strange multicolored light appears again. This time it’s much brighter.

They both look at it.

The light fades away.

Cat wakes up and sees Retriever right in front of him, saliva dripping down from her long tongue. She licks Cat’s face.

He lunges backwards, revolted.

Bird is still asleep.

Cat notices that the boat is drifting away from the towers. He presses against the rudder and steers it back towards them.

Retriever sniffs every corner of the boat, trying to find something to eat.

She puts her head inside Lemur’s basket. Lemur notices her and desperately tries to pull the basket away, but her head gets stuck inside.

Cat finds this amusing. A small hint of a smile starts to form on his face.

He notices Bird watching him disapprovingly and immediately he pretends that he doesn’t care about them and the smile vanishes.

The boat approaches a sunken city surrounded by mountains.

The buildings are made of smooth, white limestone.

Water streams downhill, gently pushing the boat through what used to be streets but now are canals. Water lilies grow everywhere.

The canal ahead is blocked by a broken building.

Cat steers the boat into an alleyway to avoid it.

The alley is barely wide enough to get through and requires precise steering.

The boat scrapes against a wall. Cat pushes the rudder away from it but hits another wall.

Retriever takes the buoy from Lemur's basket and chews on the ropes tied around it.

Lemur shrieks at her and pulls the buoy away from her.

He inspects if the buoy has been damaged. Retriever stands next to him glaring at it.

Lemur holds the buoy tighter. Retriever takes a step closer.

Lemur grunts at her and jumps up on the boat’s ledge.

Capybara sits down next to Cat and tries to help him with the steering, but Cat pushes him away.

The boat scrapes against another wall swaying sideways.

Lemur accidentally releases the buoy into the water.

Lemur starts to panic. He tries to reach it, but it’s too far.

He screams at Cat to turn the boat around.

Retriever is not sure what's going on but starts barking loudly.

It's absolute chaos.

Bird has had enough of this. He stands up and gestures at everyone to step aside.

Bird holds the rudder confidently and showing Cat how to avoid obstacles.

Cat looks up at Bird full of admiration as he steers the boat with great skill.

Lemur desperately calls Bird to turn the boat around, but he keeps steering it towards the towers.

Lemur screeches, now more insistently. He tries to grab the rudder but is no match for Bird.

He sees the buoy floating further away and bites into Bird’s leg.

When that doesn’t work, Lemur climbs up on top of Bird and pulls the feathers on his head.

Bird tries to shake Lemur off, but he doesn’t let go.

No one is in control of the boat anymore.

The boat is heading straight towards a submerged tree.

Capybara climbs up to the rudder and tries to steer it away from it.

Bird looks down and screeches at Capybara to go away. But Capybara keeps pushing the rudder.

Bird kicks at Capybara and finally manages to throw Lemur off.

Capybara stumbles and falls off the boat into the water.

Cat leans over the ledge, concerned about Capybara.

The boat hits against the tree and gets stuck on its branches.

Bird turns the rudder back and forth, but the boat doesn’t move. He shrieks at everyone and kicks at Lemur’s basket spilling its contents all out.

Cat steps away from him, afraid.

He's getting worried about Capybara, who still hasn’t surfaced.

Cat jumps off the boat and dives underwater.

Bright sunshine is refracted through water, illuminating the sunken city. He opens his eyes.

Capybara's swimming amongst a group of colorful fish. They are not afraid of him at all.

He moves confidently and gracefully. Cat is surprised to see that he’s actually a very good swimmer.

Cat emerges from the water and breathes in. He sees Capybara resurfacing too.

Capybara picks up the buoy and pushes it towards the boat.

Lemur is very relieved. He excitedly leans down and grabs it.

Capybara starts to eat a waterlily.

Lemur picks up his things and puts them back into the basket.

Bird looks at Lemur. He feels bad for losing his temper and tries to apologize.

Bird leans down and helps Lemur to pick up his things.

Cat takes a deep breath and dives down. He notices the group of fish and stays still waiting for them.

The fish come closer... Just like Capybara, he’s not making any sudden movements... until...

A fish is right in front of him...

Cat quickly opens his mouth and grabs it!

He climbs back into the boat and devours the fish.

Cat dives underwater again searching for more fish.

He hears a deep and powerful rumble. Cat turns to see a gigantic eye!

In shock, he releases most of the air from his mouth. It’s the Whale!

Cat rushes back up to the surface and breathes in. Panting heavily, he looks around but can’t see it anymore.

THE WHALE JUMPS out of the water!

Cat looks up, mouth agape. The whale is absolutely massive.

It crashes back down in the water making a huge wave.

Cat desperately swims back to the boat.

He climbs back in just as the wave reaches it and gently pushes it upwards.

As the water recedes again, the boat is freed from the tree it was stuck on.

As it’s pulled back into the stream, Cat quickly grabs the rudder. He sees that the boat is veering towards a building and reacts by pushing the rudder away from it. Cat's not strong enough.

Capybara sits down next to him. Cat realizes that he has no choice, but to let him help.

Together they push the rudder, and the boat changes its direction just in time to avoid the building.

As they focus on steering the boat they don’t notice that they’re moving towards a tree on the other side. Retriever barks to warn them.

Cat and Capybara look up, notice the tree and turn the rudder away from it. The canal splits in two directions ahead.

Lemur sits in front showing which way to go. Cat and Capybara push the rudder accordingly.

Finally, they’ve made it through the city and are back in the open water. Everyone breathes a sigh of relief.

Time passes as they travel through various strange landscapes.

Lemur sunbathes.

Capybara eats leaves.

Cat eats a fish. Retriever begs him to share it. Cat looks at her big eyes. She wags her tail hopefully. Cat gives her the fish.

Lemur tries to eat a large fruit all at once but can’t fit it into his mouth.

More flies circle around Capybara. Lemur catches them and eats them.

Lemur keeps revising the order of his collection. Retriever sits down next to him. Lemur pretends to throw something away. Retriever tries to find it but can’t.

Cat finds this funny.

Lemur takes a brush from his basket and uses it to clean Capybara.

Capybara sneezes. Lemur is startled and runs away.

Lemur sits on top of the shelter. His tail swings from side to side. Cat is down below and looks at the tail - hypnotized by it. He lunges after it. Lemur screams in surprise.

Cat goes hunting for more fish. He gives one to Bird, who can’t hunt anymore due to his injured wing.

Lemur inspects the mirror. He turns it around admiring the way it glimmers.

Cat notices a beam of sunshine reflected from the mirror on the deck. The little patch of light playfully bounces around. Cat looks at it spellbound, and his pupils dilate. He instinctively chases after it.

Everyone sleeps together in a big pile.

It starts to rain.

The animals stay under the shelter.

A sound of DOGS HOWLING in the distance!

Retriever looks around alarmed.

The group of four dogs is standing on the roof of a submerged bell tower.

They're desperately calling for help.

Capybara wants to go to the rudder and turn it towards the bell tower, but Bird stands in his way. He doesn't want to invite the dogs onboard. Capybara is not intimidated by him.

Bird screeches.

The dogs notice Retriever and call her. She seems to be afraid of them and not too eager to let them onto the boat.

Lemur holds on to his basket protecting it from the dogs. He yells at Capybara to turn the boat away from them.

Cat looks at Capybara and realizes that everyone else is against him.

Cat walks next to Capybara to support him.

Bird stares at Cat angrily. Cat averts his eyes.

Bird steps aside.

Capybara turns the rudder towards the bell tower.

Once the boat's close enough, the dogs jump inside.

Bird screeches at them to not get close to him. He returns to the rudder and turns it back to the towers.

The deck is packed full.

The dogs don’t dare to sit next to Bird, and all try to push towards the front of the boat. They’re squeezed together and step on each other’s tails.

Cat feels very uncomfortable.

Shiba notices the fish that Cat has caught and immediately devours it. Cat sighs.

The boat is finally almost near the towers. They are so huge, that Cat starts to feel dizzy looking up at them. A storm is brewing.

They’re approaching dozens of empty sail boats. Everyone looks at each other in confusion.

The boats are very similar to the one that they sit in but are all visibly damaged. The masts are broken, sails split in half. It feels very eerie.

Capybara walks up to the rudder and steers it away from the storm and the towers.

Bird turns the rudder back.

The dogs start to protest. They try to push Bird away from the rudder, to save themselves from the storm.

Bird raises his feathers and warns them not to get any closer. He is not going to move this time now that the towers are so close.

Thunder rumbles.

The dogs step back.

Lemur shrieks loudly.

Shephard and Bulldog have grabbed his mirror and are fighting over it.

Lemur attempts to get it away from them. Retriever tries to help him. They all stubbornly pull it and growl at each other.

Everyone’s barking, shrieking and growling.

Capybara tries to disperse the fight but can’t get past the other dogs.

The wind rises and the boat sways in the waves.

Cat steps away from the crowd.

Lightning!

Shephard and Bulldog immediately let go of the mirror.

Retriever falls backwards and accidentally hits Cat in the face. Cat rolls down on the deck.

Retriever looks at Cat woefully.

Lemur carefully picks up the mirror and inspects the damage. The handle is broken.

Cat looks down at his reflection in the rain puddle.

In it he's surrounded by the dogs.

The image shakes angrily.

Cat climbs up the mast to be away from everyone.

Lemur returns to the shelter and protects his mirror from the dogs.

Capybara calls for Cat to climb down from the mast.

He ignores him.

Capybara sighs.

It rains heavily and waves get increasingly larger. Bird is struggling to maintain control over the boat.

All the animals try to squeeze inside the shelter, but there’s not enough space for everyone.

The wind grows stronger. Cat starts to climb down the mast.

He sees the sail tearing apart.

The waves violently shake the boat from side to side.

Cat slips and falls down.

He stumbles on the deck headfirst.

Everything fades…

A loud noise!

The boat has scraped against one of the towers. Cat opens his eyes.

Someone is moving him. It’s Capybara.

He’s pulling him towards the shelter.

The boat sways in the turbulent ocean.

Lemur desperately holds on to his basket.

Capybara squeezes Cat inside the overstuffed shelter right next to the dogs. Cat feels claustrophobic.

He looks back outside and there it is - the central tower. The boat is right next to it. A stairway is carved into the cliff, spiraling upwards to its top.

Cat screams out in pain - Shephard just stepped on his tail.

Bird leaps off the boat flies towards the tower. Cat wants to follow him and get away from the dogs.

He tries to stand up, but Capybara pulls him back in.

The boat turns away from the tower and Cat sees a massive wave coming towards them.

The wave swallows the boat completely.

Everything turns dark.

The boat tips downwards and Cat is pulled out of the boat into the ocean.

He swims up to the surface and looks around, terrified and confused.

The boat slopes upwards and emerges from the water. Somehow it still stays afloat.

Shephard has also fallen out.

The currents have carried him in the opposite direction from Cat. He desperately tries to call them.

Retriever notices Cat and quickly turns the rudder towards him.

The other dogs growl at Retriever to step aside. They want to rescue Shephard first.

Retriever hesitates, but then lets them take the rudder.

The boat turns away from Cat. He tries to catch it, but it’s moving too fast.

Cat gulps some water.

He can’t keep up.

Cat feels abandoned and forgotten.

Suddenly something grabs him from behind, and he’s pulled up into the air. Cat turns around and sees Bird who holds him with his legs.

They land on the base of the central tower’s stairway.

Cat looks back at the ocean.

The boat is far away now.

He sees Bird walking up the stairs and follows him.

A small glimpse of sunlight seeps through the dark clouds. The storm is retreating.

Cat and Bird keep going up the seemingly endless stairs. Sun is setting over the horizon. The wind and rain subside. Cat sees the boat far down below. He keeps going upwards. They step inside the clouds.

Finally, they’ve made it to the top. Everything is covered in a thick, grey fog. On the ground there’re a few small puddles.

Emptiness. Cat waits.

Clouds dissipate. Cat sees stars.

The multicolored light appears. It’s everywhere. Cat looks around, dazzled.

The puddles start to vibrate. Cat looks down, astonished to see water droplets slowly rising upwards.

It’s like rain, but in reverse.

One by one, the droplets separate from the puddles and dance up in the air.

Gravity is disappearing. Cat feels his body being gently lifted off the tower.

He’s levitating up towards the stars.

Cat spins around and sees Bird. He’s frozen in a peaceful, tranquil state. Eyes closed.

The water droplets start to crystallize. They're not distinguishable from the stars.

Cat starts to shiver. It’s getting cold.

He looks back up at Bird. Cat knows that they can’t stay up here.

Cat sways his paws and can swim towards Bird. He grabs his foot and starts to drag him back down to the tower.

As they get nearer to it Cat starts to feel the warmth and the heaviness return.

Bird opens his eyes and notices Cat.

He resists him.

Cat tries to hold on, but it’s no use. He’s not going to come down.

Bird pushes Cat away and flies back up into the space.

Cat falls onto the tower.

He meows at Bird, pleading him to come down. Bird looks at Cat but keeps rising away from him.

He closes his eyes and slowly freezes.

Cat realizes that there’s nothing he can do anymore.

The multicolored light fades away. He can’t see Bird anymore.

The sun starts to rise at the horizon. Cat looks down and sees the tiny boat in the vast ocean, illuminated by the sunshine.

Cat hurriedly runs down the stairway.

After a long, long time, he finally is back at the tower’s base. The boat is a tiny spec near the horizon. Nevertheless, Cat jumps into the water and swims after it.

Cat’s alone in the ocean. Nothing but water in every direction.

He’s exhausted, but keeps pushing forwards the boat, but it's still far away. Cat feels his body giving up on him.

Cat's struggling to keep his head above water.

Something emerges from the ocean.

It’s a tree.

Cat stops in place, staring at it perplexed.

Then another tree emerges. And another one.

The whole forest is rising out of the ocean. He sees the ground getting closer.

Cat realizes that the trees are not rising, but the water is receding.

The ocean is gone. Cat is in a forest. Everything is covered with a thick layer of green seaweed and moss. Many of the trees are broken or withered.

The last remains of the ocean flow down a rocky slope forming a series of cascades.

Fish, crabs, jellyfish and all kinds of strange ocean creatures are desperately jumping around on the ground, disoriented and confused.

Cat remembers the boat and runs towards it.

He keeps going further into the forest, looking for the boat.

Cat calls them. No response.

Cat notices a strange structure. It’s an ancient amphitheater. He approaches it.

At the center of the stage, there’s a large stone chair - a throne.

As Cat gets closer, he sees Lemur sitting on the throne, cradling his mirror. He’s surrounded by a group of other lemurs. They all admire him and his mirror.

Cat approaches them and calls Lemur. All the lemurs look at Cat, surprised. Cat calls Lemur again to follow him, but he stays sitting on the throne.

Lemur pretends that he doesn’t know him.

Cat sighs and leaves him.

He keeps looking for the boat. The path ahead splits in two directions, Cat is not sure where to go.

The forest is coated in dense fog.

Cat is lost.

He hears something and turns around.

It's Lemur. He's running towards him, panting heavily.

Cat smiles.

Lemur runs ahead and points which way to go. Cat follows.

They keep running.

Cat hears a faint sound coming from somewhere far away and perks up his ears.

It sounds like Retriever’s bark.

Another bark! It’s definitely her! Cat is filled with exhilaration. He hurries towards the barking, nimbly jumping over rocks and fallen logs.

They’ve reached the end of the forest. There’s a huge cliff ahead facing down the ocean.

Cat looks around and sees the boat! It’s stuck on a tree which is leaning over the edge of the cliff.

Capybara, Retriever and the other dogs sit in the boat unable to get out.

Cat and Lemur run towards them. Cat looks around but is not sure what to do. The boat is too high up the tree, hanging on ropes that are tangled in the branches.

Retriever notices him and barks with excitement, happy to see that Cat is alive and has come back for them.

All the dogs jump up and down.

The tree starts to bend down over the cliff!

It stops.

The boat is now much closer to the ground swinging back and forth over the cliff.

Cat calls everyone to jump quickly. Shephard waits for the boat to swing towards the edge of the cliff.

He jumps, landing safely on the ground. The other dogs follow him.

The tree bends down again! It will fall down the cliff any moment.

The boat swings further away.

Now it's way too far for Capybara to make the jump.

Lemur notices a rope hanging from the boat which is tangled up in the tree’s branches. He grabs it and tries to pull it.

The dogs run up to him and help. The boat swings a little closer, but not enough.

Cat sees that if the rope would be untangled from the branches, the boat could be pulled closer. He climbs up the tree towards the rope.

Cat and Capybara look at each other. This is the first time Cat has seen Capybara being afraid.

Cat reaches the branch where the rope is tangled. He tries to move it, but the rope is stretched too tightly.

Cat calls the dogs to stop pulling. They ease it a little and the rope loosens.

Now Cat can grab it, but the boat swings further from the edge of the cliff.

He pushes the rope towards the end of the branch which bends down with Cat’s weight.

A DEER jumps out of the forest. It notices the dogs and quickly runs away from them.

The dogs instinctively chase after the deer, letting go of the rope.

Only Retriever and Lemur stay holding it.

The boat swings further away.

Cat sees Shephard calling Retriever to follow them, but she stays holding the rope.

The dogs leave.

Cat finally manages to free the rope from the branch.

Now that the branch is not being weighed down by the rope, it starts to shake up and down.

Cat stumbles and falls, but just barely manages to grab on to the branch with his front paws.

The ocean below crashes against the sharp black rocks. He desperately calls for Retriever and Lemur.

They pull the rope. Cat loses his grip and falls down.

The boat swings closer. Cat’s going to miss it.

Capybara leans over the edge of the boat and grabs Cat. He pulls him up in the boat.

Retriever and Lemur pull the rope as hard as they can.

The boat is now close enough to the cliff. Cat and Capybara jump...

...and land on top of Retriever and Lemur. They all stumble down on the ground rolling into each other.

The boat swings away and together with the whole tree falls down the cliff, crashing against the rocks.

Cat is squeezed under everyone else. Retriever is so happy that she starts licking Cat’s face. Lemur and Capybara hug them tightly. Cat is very uncomfortable and feels that something’s wrong.

He hears a loud thumping noise. It gets closer and loader. He wants to escape.

Everything shakes.

He sees a herd of deer! There must be hundreds of them. They’re all running towards him.

Cat is terrified.

The clouds grow darker.

Cat starts having a panic attack.

His instincts tell him to get away from everyone.

Cat bulges out from the hug and runs away, terrified.

The deer are everywhere.

He tries to get out of the crowd and not get trampled by them. A huge stag almost steps on him.

Cat sees the towers and runs back to them.

Finally, he’s out of the crowd - alone, desperate to reach the towers. He runs out of the forest into a glade. Sound fades out.

Cat hears a deep rumble.

He stops running and looks around searching for its source. The fog disperses slightly revealing the Whale lying helplessly on the ground.

Cat approaches him.

Whale is so heavy that he can’t even turn over.

He notices the tiny Cat coming closer. Cat wants to help him, but there’s nothing he can do.

Cat leans his head against Whale and purrs.

Whale closes his eyes.

Cat looks down at his reflection in a puddle. The distorted and unclear image slowly calms down, and he can see himself.

Whale exhales heavily.

Cat looks down again at his reflection.

Capybara, Lemur and Retriever come and sit down next to him. Cat leans his head against Capybara's shoulder.
